Damn! I just read that John & Joan are no longer associated w/ the Stepford remake as seen here....

Variety is reporting today that John and Joan Cusack have dropped out of the Paramount remake of THE STEPFORD WIVES, citing family reasons. Joan was set to play Bobbie Markowe, best friend to Joanna Eberhart (Nicole Kidman) who, together, find out that all the seemingly perfect wives in the small town of Stepford, Connecticut, are actually that way because they have been replaced by robots. The role John was supposed to play was that of Joanna's husband Walter, who, once he finds out that all the other wives are robots, wants in on the deal.

Replacing the siblings will be... Matthew Broderick and Bette Midler? What? How did they go from the ultra cool, dark geek presence of John Cusack to the just plain geeky Broderick? Not to mention going from the cute as a button, innocent charm of Joan Cusack to the abrasive Midler? I'm sure timing had a lot to do with it, but I have a hard time seeing any of these actors as interchangeable. Undoubtedly, this movie just took on a whole new feel.

Broderick and Midler will join Kidman, Christopher Walken, Glenn Close and Faith Hill in the Frank Oz directed remake. STEPFORD is scheduled to start shooting in June.

That sucks they're both really good actors. Especially John.
