I was just reading a thread comparing the two films and how they are similar in storyline. Think about it. There are some rather obvious similarities. My question is... which film will be better when they finally come out? And, in the end, which film will reign at the box office more?

They both look amazing, IMO, but neither will touch X2: X-Men United or Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Here are my thoughts from your questions....

Which will perform better at the box office? - The Matrix Reloaded

Which will be the better film? - T3: Rise of the Machines

Which will be better? Wow, that's a question. Now if Terminator had come out this year (the first one) then it would really be a hard question. The problem is that the "works on lots of levels' plot of Terminator has been discussed, reused and lamented a billion plus times. I am old enough to remember the huge impact Terminator had.
The only real comparison is the machine take over thing. After that Terminator (the first one) is a time-loop/paradox film, where Matrix is a "You are under my power" film. Matrix could better be compared with "Invasion of the body snatchers." The back story to Matrix is totally comparable to Terminator. But Matrix, the movie, is not about the back story, anymore then Reases past/future dream memories had much to do with the story of the Terminator itself. Then again at the end of Buffy last season people were comparing Xander's action with Jesus (which made me wish I could have had a bud of what they were smoking) so I am not surprised.
The big question is, which will be better. Well anyone who want to bet on Terminator, please forward your money to me right now. I think T3 will be cool, but no way on the planet is it going to beat Matrix Reloaded. Anymore then Close Encounters could beat Empire Strikes Back. It just is not going to happen.

I think The Matrix Reloaded will be the better film. I am sure I will personally like it better, because I'm not into all that Terminator stuff.

Can't wait for both, I think T3 will earn more and Reloaded will be the better film (Oh how Invincible will hate me for saying that!).

Neo will beat Arnie's ass, no problemo! Matrix reloaded may become the biggest movie of all time, think I'm kidding? The buzz all year has been on this very secretive endeavor. Terminator took too long to come back out, the buzz just isn't equal to arnold's stature of the 90's. Matrix reloaded is more young, hip, action packed(from what I've heard) and visually stunning to be touched by anything else this year, that is until Revolutions comes out.

according to the reviews, the matrix reloaded has no depth or substance. It has jaw dropping action and special effects, no doubt. However, from what i hear, it has a crap storyline.

Terminator 3 is going to be better than that CGI piece of shit Matrix reloaded.

i've heard is really sticks with the storyline, and has great philisophical aspects in it. Which means yes it does have a story with jaw-dropping effects.

Which will be the better film? I'm really not sure yet. It could go either way. I like the T3 trailers better, however.

I think that The Matrix Reloaded will have a greeeeat storyline with a load of philisophical stuff (i love it!).

As for the special effects, take a look at the trailer, (trailer spoilers) notabley the scene with neo kicking the agents ass (all computer) along with the car chase... damn! I would give them an oscar just for the trailer!

what's funny about that is, only 1/2 of that brawl footage is CGI. The rest is real... trippy. They blend real people and things, with CGI.

dont get me wrong, i am not saying that i agree with the reviews. I will not pass final judgment until i see the matrix reloaded myself. Back in 1999, critics were saying the same thing, and the movie turned out to be a sci-fi action masterpiece.

I am sorry if it sounded like i was bashing the film, i hope its good. I wont pass any judgment until i see the movie.

It's now getting closer by the day to the release of The Matrix: Reloaded and, coincidentally, the new T3 trailer will likely (can anyone confirm this?) be attached to Reloaded. I will probably see Reloaded just to see the new trailer in theatres if it is confirmed to be attached.

I'm more hyped up for Matrix Reloaded. I just haven't been impressed with the trailers and such for T3, while the mostly good reviews for MR are getting to me in a good way. At least for the Matrix car chase, which should prove interesting

Part 1 was just a Masterpiece.
I think I was the only one on the planet that didnt see The Matrix till it came out on DVD and my friend made me watch it! I was a fool! It's one of the greatest movies ever made. Im sure part 2 will be just as spectacular. This one Im gonna catch in the theater for sure. I aslo love the Terminator flix, always have, and I am also greatly anticipating T3. But if I had to choose only one at gun point, I would go for Reloaded. I gotta keep the buzz going that I got from watching X2 and I think Reloaded is gonna be my fix. SIH!

It's gonna keep the buzz going because it's gonna kick mucho ass! This movie looks ridiculously awesome. T3? Yeah I'll see it because it's the Terminator, but I have doubts, lots of them. Matrix on the other hand, I have no doubts. It's gonna rock, plain and simple. If T3 is good, then it will be better than I thought it was gonna be, because I have the lowest expectations for that movie, ooohhh! Yeah I said it. I have higher expectations for Bad Boys 2 than T3. MAH!

Matrix reloaded is gonna be way better and make alot more money now i liked the first 2 terminators but the third one just looks dumb and it almost seem like terminator 3 is gonna be all special effects and not much of a story to me but matrix could go the same way but the first did have a good story so if they stick to it who knows at least anyways who knows it could be awesome i will see both

The Matrix is all special effects and no story if you ask me. And the slow motion and speed-up in the trailer are anything but revolutionary. Slow mo has been in film for decades now. T3 I expect to be the better film because the trailer actually places more of an emphasis on story than special effects unlike The Matrix trailer. I am referring to the international trailer, not the short domestic trailer.

Freeway... The least we know about a film, the better, I always say. So to me, I think that Reloaded will be a lot better due to the fact that, we know nothing about what will happen to anyone and anything in it. Where as, T3, is known by all, any then some. We all jnow what happened and what is still going to happen. T3 is much like Episode I with Spoilers. Nothing surprising to learn and nothing amazing to see, other then the Terminatrix...

Better Box-Office Hit: Terminator 3: Rise of the Mechines

Better Film, Overall: The Matrix Reloaded

I believe Terminator will recieve the lower box office but be the better movie of the two. Matrix is gonna have a lot of cool stuff in it but they are saving the best for The 3rd one while Terminator 3s going to be self contained, and at least for me, pay off more and be a more rewarding veiwing. However i do think Matrix will make more money due to the fact that Warner is doing a lot more advertising for The Matrix the Terminator. At least for the moment...

The Matrix Reloaded will make more money and will be the better film. I wish I could say so for T3, but there's just no possible way those words could even come out of my mouth.

When do you schmoes think that Warner Bros. will start heavily advertising T3? I understand that they don't want to start until after Reloaded is released because that just probably wouldn't be a smart fiscal move, but when will the onslaught begin?

It isn't just slow-motion, its 'bullet-time', when you can move at any rate of speed at any time. It is revelutionary, John Gatte was the first to think of it and won an oscar for it. Thousands of other sorts of media, from films to shows to commercials used bullet-time after the film came out. He went beyond that for the sequals with 'digital cinimatography'.

The T3 trailer didn't put much emphasis on the story either, i mean, the new one was mostly FX shots and the TX nude, the only shots that wern't was one or two shots of arnie's face. I still don't understand how the hell Judgement Day will still happen and the trailer didn't help shed light on anything more than the tx and fx.

It still happens because T2 didnt prevent the future, it just delayed it. If the future was really prevented, then as soon as the T-800 melted in the molten steel, john connor should have ceased to exist and all of sarah connor's memories about the future would have disappeared. If skynet doesnt exist, then kyle reese can never go back in time to 1984 and conceive john and tell sarah about the future. However, at the end of T2, john is still there and sarah still knows about the future that lies ahead. That means skynet must come online and judgment day must happen. Plus, do you think that a company like cyberdyne would keep all that valuable information in one building?

This is why i DESPISE T2's ending. It makes everyone think that the story is over when it really isnt. Thats one of the reasons why i like T1 better than T2. James Cameron could have done "the rise of the machines" in T2 and T3 COULD have been the future war film, however, Cameron had to go the cop out direction and do the "lets prevent the future" bullshit in T2.

Well said, liquid one. I never thought of it that way.

I think Reloaded will do better on both counts.

I don't have any problems with Reloaded but do have two minor quibbles with T3... the first is "She'll be back." That's just ridiculous! The second is having a girl for the Terminator (if indeed she is the terminator this time). Haven't we had enough of these "fighter chicks"... the girl in Shanghai Knights, Elektra in Daredevil, Charlie's Angels and now this. Is it supposed to keep us from worrying about them so much in real life or something? So women can take care of themselves. We get the idea!

According to the "translater" for T3..."She'll be back" line is not in the movie. And, it's all proven in the Behind the scenes clips...not sure which one, (i think #3 clip proves that She'll be back is not in that scene)

The Matrix will reign at the box-office

The Matrix was better than T1 or T2 so Reloaded will be better than T3

Don't forget that Cameron didn't write T3.

Also, MAtrix has a better script, a better back story.

Just saw Matrix:Relaoded and i gotta say i thought the first was a lot better. Im not going to go into a review because im not even sure i could talk about it with out spoilers but im now confident that T3 will be the better of the 2. (not saying its bad, it was pretty cool but not in the same league as the first one.)

Was really good but T3 is gonna stomp it.

Well, to me, The Matrix Reloaded will likely top T3 in both counts, I give Reloaded a fabulous ****/****!

It had an excellent story, very in depth and believable, it also had the best special effects in a film to date!

Reloaded also is the number one grossing film of all time for its first four day opening, beating Spider-Mans four day record by about 20 million. Not to mention it is the highest weekend grosser for a Rated R film (beating its predecessor Hannibal by almost half of its profit).

I doubt Terminator 3 can make the same impact on me, but i will definatley give it a chance.

I thought Reloaded was absolutely terrible (3/10). I sure as hell hope T3 is better than it... MUCH better. Either way, both T1 and T2 are better than Matrix (8/10) and its sequel. Let the terminator films rule again!
