I think this movie is totally underrated. It has good acting, a great sense of suspense, some very gory moments, the music is awesome and some really good surprises (what an unexpected death at the end !). A lot of people said it was full of cliches but i don't think so. What are your thoughts about it ?

Fun movie, fun times....i dont think its underrated.

The sharks many times looked TOO fake and unrealistic. But for the most part i was happy.Good acting from LL Cool J (i was surprised),Thomas Jane, and awesome acting from the always good Saffron Burrows.Overall i give it a 7/10,a very fun film.

Yeah, not exactly a solid flick, but definately NOT underrated. It wasn't bad, when it first came out in theaters I saw it 3 times, I really liked it, I was about 9, my parents got sick of taking me. I don't think I'd like it as much now, the last time I saw it I was like 11, so you know what I'm saying. The sharks DID look too fake at times.
Um, I really like these shark movies (most), pretty much just Jaws Pt. 1, enjoy because at the rates of remakes, Jaws can't be far from 1! Anyway, I love the feeling of being trapped with water all around you, and that water is shark domain, if you jump in you're screwed, if you don't; you better be smart... or you're screwed, nice feeling huh?

DEEP BLUE SEA ... 7/10!

I also enjoyed this movie when I saw it for the first time. However, I just cant get over some aspects of it. Like charks being intelligent enough to disable cameras on purpose. Don't movie monsters lose their edge when they become too intelligent? I mean the whole point of a shark is it's great strenghts and predatory instincts. Shark doesnt have to outsmart you, it can simply brake your boat or whatever to pieces and eat you up in like one bite.
Also I didnt like Samuel L. Jackson's character. His speach about ice as a killer totally turned me off. But I did laugh my ass off when a shark interrupted him in the middle of the sentence by eating him... hehe... that was cool.

I give it 6.5/10

I thought it was a cool movie, but a little inconsistant. Sometimes the sharks looked HUGE, able to chomp down on our heroes with one bite. Other times, the sharks were sneaking around in shallow water undetected. And the poor parrot--I've got 3 parrots as pets and the idea of a shark eating any of my babies, ughhh. That shark was toast in my mind from that point on. Over all, Deep Blue Sea was a good entry in the shark movie category--it had the balls to bump off characters that usually survive to the end, which is a surprise but refreshing.

A cool fun movie to watch whenever you wanna kill some time, I remember seeing this on tv once and saying to myself that whenever I saw this around shops I would buy it. Well, actually it took me like a year to actually convince myself to buy it and I'm glad I did. A good movie.

I found it to be an enjoyable movie. It had several really good shocks that I didn't see coming, and the effects were rather good. It's not Jaws, but definitely one of the better movies to come out about killer sharks.

It wasn't bad but it seemed a little modern for my tastes. The ending was prretty good, some nice chase scenes, also some very unrealistic scenes, wish they could have made the sharks more creepy but I guess they were trying to steer clear of copying the great white Jaws look.

I had one problem LL Cool J. God why is it crucial for every horror movie to have a sarcastic black comic relief. Why don't they make it like NOTLD where the black character is the badass hero instead of the White hero guy with blonde hair, oh well, it was still a fun movie. I liked Deep Rising better.

I have only one good thing to say about this movie and it also haoppens to be a damn stupid idea...but...when the girl strips down so she can use her rubber suit as protection from the electricity...on one had, well she is pretty cute so thats a plus, but the logic, while right, is just stupid to show in a movie...someone had to have said this...

"hey, lets have her electricute the shark but since there is water everywhere we can have her get naked, stand on her rubber suit and be saved!"

and everyone else said, "yeah good idea"

This movie had a decent idea, but I think all the scenes that were deleted hurt the film. Some scenes actually gave some complexity to Susan McAlester, and made her sympathetic, but Renny Harlin said he wanted the audience to hate her. So they cut the scenes out. Other deleted scenes were of a character-driven nature, as well. But when you have an ADD-afflicted hack like Harlin, this is what you get: a competent thriller with absolutley no resonance.
