View Full Version : So...what Festivals Are You Attending This Year?

Reigh Kaufman

Me: T In The Park

Bands: The White Stripes, REM, The Charlatans, Supergrass, The Music, Idlewild, The Coral, Feeder, John Squire, Roykssop, and 60 more.

Who are you guys going to see and where?

P.S. Any Scottish Schmoes attending (and possibly English Schmoes who fancy it but need to get their act together, having been invited to stay at my house - pointing no elbows)?

*Kaufman points his elbow at a couple of infamous Schmoes with Mancunian-tinted accents*

P.S. Hey, did you know it was impossible to lick your elbow? Hmmm. Interesting.

P.P.S. I know you guys are trying it now, you look ridiculous.

Well its not specifically I'm going to the Anger Managment Tour at the MK Bowl.

Basically its Eminem and some other rappers and nu-metal groups that havent been announced yet. Well 50 Cent and D12 but thats it.

I would really like to go to the Virgin festival.

depending on whether me and my girlfriend get our shit together, we may be going to v2003 for a day or two, because its actually only 20 minutes or so down the road from my house lol.

but it depends on the playoffs. at the minute, i may be going to the division one playoff final, in which case i wont have any money...

I'm attending T In The Park this year. There are just too many great acts for me to see anything like what I want to see. The main problem is the Sunday headline slot. I saw Coldplay twice last year and have never seen Teenage Fanclub live (well...I saw them support Neil Young but that was a long, long time ago and before I grew to love their music). I suspect that Coldplay will be a stunning conclusion to the weekend but I think i'm gonna go see Teenage Fanclub instead. I just like their music more than that of Coldplay. I'll definitely be seeing the last four acts on the main stage on the Saturday night. How can you do better than The White Stripes followed by REM. You can't. You just fucking can't. I've seen REM before at Stirling Castle in Scotland. They were fucking amazing. The Cardigans new album is amazing but I don't know if they will make for an interesting live act at a festival. I intend to find out though. I've always wanted to see Echo & The Bunnymen live but it's a sign of the times that they are playing so early in the day on the Sunday. I can remember a time when they would have been potential headliners. It must be a pretty solid blow to Ian McCulloch's famous braggadocio that the fucking Sugababes are higher on the bill. Anyway...i'm camping for the four days and have all fingers and toes crossed for good weather. Looking forward to it.

Other Shows I plan on attending this summer:
Stephen Malkmus
Pearl Jam
Bjork
311 (hopefully 2 or 3 times depending on the as yet unannounced schedule)

Though I couldnt say for sure, I would estimate that I have seen about 20-25 311 shows. I saw my first show in 1995 and I try to catch them 2 or 3 times every tour if possible.

The shows are simply amazing. Great great fun. I highly recomend checking out 311 next time they tour. (even if you are not a big fan of the music, I gaurantee you will have a blast at the show)

This will be my first time seeing Pearl Jam so I am very excited

I'm not a festival/concert type of person (I've only ever been to one before: that was Steps, I feel very dirty...) but I would of liked to go to T In The Park.

They are playing Red Rock Amphitheater in Colorado and I've got some friends out there, so I planned on attending. Something like August 26th? They have plans to do a U.S. End Summer-Fall tour, which will hopefully be extensive so that everyone can view the GREATEST LIVE ACT LIVING!

The only festival I'll probably go to this year is Ozzfest. So far the only bands that I care about that I know are playing are:

Cradle of Filth
At the Gates
Marylin Manson
and maybe Korn

If anyone knows any other "good" bands that are playing, I would be interested to find out.

Goin to Spring Shaker at the end of may and Evolve at the end of august. Both are New Brunswick two day hippie jam band fests that will rock my artwork. Jimmy Swift Band, Nero, Grand Theft Bus and other bands ya'll haven't even heard of sadly. Great music and the fest will be the coolest.

I have never actually heard Cradle of Filth but a lot of my friends really like them. I guess Americans can get really excited about foriegn bands but Cradle is really popular out here.
