Thanks Mike! I can start my rant!
Don't ya hate it when movie rental places change their prices and you can only rent the movie you really want?
Well I checked my videostore on the way home from school and they raised the price of older movies! I haven't been there for a year.
The Price is now 4.23 including tax! Now this sucks. Even though I don't go it sucks for the people that do go.

Yeah - they're fleecing us :(
Public libraries are the way forward - cheap and a good selection :)

My video store I rent new releases at costs $3.00 for two new releases if you have a coupon.... If I want to rent older movies I go to a different store where it costs 50 cents for seven days. I have nothing to rant about.

Same here. I can't complain when I get 3 new releases for 3 days for 7 bucks.
Peace,
Matt
Jesus movies35, 4.23 for older movies!? That's outrageous... I'm so pissed that my video store raised their price a whole dollar. I really was outraged after I found that out yesterday. It's getting to be where you can almost go to the theater and see a movie cheaper or for the same price you can rent them. I'm so sick of this shit! And my video store isn't even a place that has coupons every once in awhile, they NEVER do. My old video store had and still do have coupons quite a bit, but I don't really like going there anymore because they have a bunch of snooty morons working there. Pretty much all of them are rude and don't know anything about movies. Last fall when I went there and asked if they had the movie THE SHINING, the person working asked me if it was a new release ... And they ended up not even having it anyway (on VHS or DVD). Plus, if you rent more than two movies, they friggin' stare at you like you have a problem or something, or are some movie freak. I think video stores should only hire people that are passionate about movies. That should actually be a question during the interview. Also, they don't really have any older movies on DVD, they just get the newer ones. Man, I don't know what to do. I really liked my current video store and was always spreading the word about them, and now they go and pull this shit and I don't feel like recommending them anymore. God, I'm just so damn mad.

I borrow both DVD's & VHS movies from my public library system. It's free providing u bring them back on time! The most I have spent is $.50 to resrve the good ones cause pending on ur area & location of library u visit selections are first come first serve. And the price ur paying movies35 is it Blockbuster by any chance? The mom & pop stores are usually less....

Damn rental places. Screwing us good movie loving Schmoes out of our hard earned cash. Hard dare they....I say we revolt...start by burning down all the blockbusters....the go to the smaller one like hollywood video...it would anarchy....
What the hell am I saying. If you want to see it..bite the bullet and pay the price...or go someplace else. F#$k the "man" and stop paying for his childs new sports car, go find a place that is cheaper. You might be surprised by what you find. :D

oh how i hate this.
i had paid money to get a blockbuster rewards card, and before you could get two for one old movies sunday - thursday. understandable. so one day, i go in on monday, and i pick out two old movies, and they tell me that its now tuesday thru thursday. ok, that sucks. then they said if i had a gold card, i could get two for one old movies sunday thru thursday. i said "how do i get a gold card?" and they told me that you have to be there for a certain amount of time.
that sucks. i've been a member for over two years. give me a freakin gold card already!
i was kinda pissed when they changed that.

I know what you mean.
I see just about everything in the theater because I have to review all major releases and I TRY to review as many good minor releases as I can.
But think about this... locally our small theater charges 5 bucks a seat for matinees and bargain night.
Costs 4 bucks to rent a new video release.
Costs 9 bucks to buy it used on DVD.
So it's just STUPID to rent. I still do rent, but only stuff I want my parents to see because they can't handle the theater, or stuff my husband didn't see because he was busy, or stuff the kids didn't see. I never rent for me anymore.
Just not cost effective.
