View Full Version : House Of 1000 Corpses 2 - COMING 2004!
This is from Dark Horizons:
House of 1000 Corpses II: Variety reports that Lions Gate and Rob Zombie are proceeding with a sequel for an April 2004 release.
I think this is pretty cool news. I haven't seen the first one, but I'm glad it has done well for itself at the Box Office. I'm certainly shocked it has made as much as it did, but I'm glad. I doubt I'll be seeing it in theaters, but I will check it out for sure on video. That being said, if I like the first I'll definitely see the sequel. And if I don't like the first, I'll probably see the sequel anyway (I have this thing with sequels, especially ones for horror movies ;)). I'm happy they are doing another one...

It wasn't anything special 6/10. And I hope this comes wide because a lot of people never got to see the first one.

You wouldn't see one EVER? Hmm, what if it had Seann William Scott in it? And if that wasn't enough, what if he was nude? ;)

Ok then I'd see it! But under any other circumstances, I'd never watch a sequel to this "movie"...

Funny, how a movie two studios didn't want to release ends up so popular, it has already merited a sequel...Irony can be pretty ironic.

HOTC was very dissapointing. Still a 6/10 but so much was cut of the movie. You need to release it uncut to satisfy me!

The original was just average IMO. A sequel is the natural progression but I'm not sure if I would see the sequel unless it looks a little different than the original.

wow, this is surprising.i think lion's gate will be disappointed when the sequel tanks and it doesn't become a franchise.this completely unnecessary.
House of 1,000 Corpses 3/10 Ninety Minute Mess, Becomes Tediously Nonsensical
After three years, several distribution changes, and many go rounds through the MPAA, Rob Zombie's homage to horror movies has finally been released. What results is a mess of a movie, which has zero character development, no flow to the story, and absolutely no scares. The story is quite simple: four friends are traveling to one of their parent's homes, stopping along the way to many odd roadside attractions. Eventually they encounter Captain Spaulding's House of Monsters and Madmen(which also has gasoline and fried chicken). There they learn about the local legend of Doctor Satan. After leaving, they encounter a hitchhiker(Sheri Moon) who leads them to her home after some car trouble. The house turns out to be home to a family of serial killers and the house itself is a labyrinth of monsters and tortured souls. This is where the gore, scares, and mayhem should begin. I sat there for 90 minutes waitng for that, but it never came. This could have been made by a bunch of teenagers who know how to do a few cool tricks with a camera. There is no hero here, just about every scene makes absolutely no sense, and after a certain point the movie becomes tedious to sit through. The only redeeming qualities about the movie were Sheri Moon and Sid Haim's eccentric Captain Spaulding. They are both a hoot, but are only used sparingly. I know this was probably butchered by the MPAA, so maybe I'll give it another chance on DVD. But as it stands, Zombie's love letter to old school horror films is not in the upper echelon of the genre.

I'm looking forward to this one. I was already planning to get the first movie on DVD because I want to see the uncut version, but a sequel sounds like a really cool idea. There is a lot of potential there with those characters. Captain Spaulding, Baby, Otis, and Karen Black's character were all pretty hilarious (unfortunately, the guy who played Grandpa died shortly after he completed filming the movie). The movie was entertaining but not really scary. It was more of a black comedy than a horror movie. But it was done with a lot of enthusiasm, and Rob is undoubtedly a director with a interesting eye for visuals (and great use of music too, naturally). The "I Remember You" scene was probably the best scene in a movie I've seen so far this year.

For fuck sakes... I'm sorry, if you liked that movie, that's kewl, but this isn't about the original... I'm sick and fucking tired of fucking sequels!!! It used to be, if a movie did really well, and was well received, and warrented a sequel, it would get one. Now, ANY fucking movie can get a sequel, cause the studios are ballsless fucks. You have a guarenteed fan base that will run and see it, or at worst, you sink a couple million into it, and release direct to DVD. I would like one... just one fucking year that DOES NOT have a fucking sequel!!!
I appologize for all the "F"bombs, but I'm so sick of the ballsless studio system...
As for the sequel itself... meh... who cares. Sequels are rarely, if EVER as good as the first, and in this case, it's just gonna suck donkey balls... no, wait, the first one sucked donkey balls, so the sequel will suck elephant balls.
Ho1000C - 2.5/10... (if Sheri Moon wasn't so good to look at, the movie would get a 1/10) I'll watch it again when it comes out on DVD. Maybe I was just so disappointed cause I was so hyped to see it, and all the hype built it up like it was some "horror movie rebirth"... blahblahblah... meh.

If you only see one movie this year, make sure it is House of 1000 Corpses. See it a couple of times to bask in it's beautiful radiant glow. This filmic masterpiece is poetry in motion! This is one of the most important films to come down the pike in over a decade. This cinematic masterpiece shines ever so bright and should be owned by any purveyor of fine cinema once the DVD arrives.
