Lets see, Coolio, Madonna , Kurt Cobain,Toni Basil, James Brown,Michael Jackson, Joan Jett were just a select few of music artists who gave Weird Al Yankovic the green light to parody their hit songs but just one music artist
said No Thank You....

EMINEM SAYS NO TO WEIRD AL SPOOF

Rapper Eminem can't see the funny side of a Weird Al Yankovic video parody -- he's refused permission for the spoof.

Weird Al has parodied songs by Eminem, Nelly and Avril Lavigne on his new album, Poodle Hat, but when the rapper heard the funnyman's take on his hit "Lose Yourself," he didn't get the joke.

Eminem can do very little about the joke song, retitled "Couch Potato" -- because it's clearly a parody of his "8 Mile" song, but he can make sure his image doesn't appear in the accompanying video.

Weird Al says, "It's disappointing. Eminem's manager said that he was afraid that a Weird Al video might somehow detract from his legacy or make people view him in a less serious manner."

Emenim should learn from the past... Coolio did the same thing and look where it took his career. People who embrace wierd Al get good Karma when will they learn?

i came here to post: Does anybody know the track listings for Weird Al's new cd?? (and if so... the songs that he is parodying) i just found out about this cd today while flipping through my Entertainment Weekly!

Well since its still early from its May 20th release date no reference of song listings or who he is paroding, I would suggest checking w/ Amazon or his own web site when it gets closer to the 20th.:

Puh-leeese...getting spoofed by Weird Al means you've made it to the top. It should be looked at as the highest form of flattery. Eminem needs to get a sense of humor.

That sucks, I can't help but be interested in the video of an 8 Mile spoof. Being parodied by Weird Al is an honor, much like being parodied on SNL

Fuck Eminem. Weird Al was doing the guy a favor, but apparently, the same rapper who builds entire songs upon tasteless, immature jokes directed at his fellow pop stars doesn't have a sense of humor. I emphatically repeat, fuck Eminem. And UHF kicks ass!

agreed on both counts count. I remember watching UHF years ago as a kid. Great movie. I should watch it again. Yeah!

Eminem is stuck with some damn Aerosmith "Dream On" rip off I keep hearing every damn day....this guy has about 5 more years left while Al will be around till the day he decides to stop...just another reason why he is a "biatch"

Agreed big time. I have never or will ever listen to eminem to me hes a no talent hack who makes his money of talking shit about other people and its funny in his new video he just sings an aerosmith song. what a dumb asshole he is.

Fuck Eminem and his no talent ass clown bullshit rap games. The guy sampled the chorus from Aerosmith and now he thinks he's a motherfuckin' rock star. Fuck him. More power to Weird Al. UHF rules too, especially Michael Richards as Stanley Spadowski.

i used to have alot of respect for Eminem... his lyrics were tight and his beats were fresh... but ever since the Triumph The Insult Comic Dog ordeal i had been gradually losing my respect for him... and now this.... i have ZERO respect for him...i HATE people who can dish it out, but cant take it... granted all the people Eminem has got on in his songs have been people i dont really like or care for.... but he does it... and now Weird Al... a fucking ICON in the music world has come up a/ a parody to one of his songs and all the sudden he has to cry like a little fucking girl because "he cant take it".... i guess the next Eminem song will pry be called "parody" and just make fun of Weird Al... too bad weird al has more talent in his right nut sac than Eminem will ever have.
Like someone already mentioned... Kurt Cobain said when Weird Al called him and asked him to do the parody of Smells Like Teen Spirit... Cobain said (not exact quote but close) "I feel like we have FINALLY made it in the music world if Weird Al is doing a parody of one of our songs"

If he cant take it... than he shouldnt dish it... he has turned into alil fuckin Pre-Madonna.. a fuckin Male DIVA... and sooner or later its gonna catch up with him.

Shit... he got all sorts of recognition for 8 Mile.... it wasnt written by him... it wasnt directed by him... it was a story about a white rapper trying to make it in a black mans world... WOW what a fuckin stretch for Eminem to play that role!

I expect Al to be worked into a song of his and I imagine the verse will go like this "Weird Al put me in his song I said fuck you and nah cuz" He better not make fun of Al thats all I got to say.

ACTUALLY Coolio also said no to Weird Al... but it was the record company who alloud the song to be made

Eminem is the only rapper I like besides Jay Z..... Gosh I can't belive I said I liked rap when all this time I say rap sucks.. Well maybe not on the boards.. But I like Eminem and I like weird Al because he's weird but I think Eminem should get a sense of humor if he desn't think it's funny.... Just being made fun of professionally is funny...And an honor!


Maybe I like eminem because were both White :rolleyes:
