This is awfully soon that a record label gives the pink slip on their artists...Well I wasn't too much into her music anyway other than her remake of Madonna's "Papa Dont Preach" ;)

KELLY OSBOURNE DITCHED FROM LABEL

Outspoken singer Kelly Osbourne has been dropped by her record company, Epic.

The 18-year-old daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, has reportedly been released from her contract after her debut album, Shut Up, sold fewer than 150,000 copies.

A source tells Us Weekly, "Sharon is p-----," explaining that Kelly's rocker dad, Ozzy, has been with Epic for more than 20 years.

The timing was also a shock, adds the source, who explains, "Kelly was nearly done recording her second album when they pulled the plug."

I was not into her music. But It says Ozzy has been with Epic for over 20 years, and they pull his daughter out?

On one hand I'm not suprised that this happend, because the company considered this a joke from the get go. There was hardly any real promotion in it, the day after her albulm came out it wasn't at the front of any of the major retailer (FYE,Camelot and Wherehouse Music) in my area and the only time I ever saw her videos were snipets that were played during the ending credits of The Osbournes. I didn't even know she had released any other singles off her album until I read about on a messege board or heard it mentioned on one of those entertainment news shows.

But on the other hand, I liked her music, she didn't have the best voice in the world and to be honest that's what I liked about her was the honesty and rawness in her voice, she's a good song writer and I hope that she continues to write, if not for herself than for other artists. And I agree that after Ozzy has been with them for over 20 years you'd think they'd give his daughter a little more time to buil a fan base.

It's a fucking shame how the record companies work... The artists are forced to stick to the contract they signed, but the moneygreedy record company can do whatever they want.

The Rugged Man said it best:
"Every record label sucks dick!"

I quite liked her take on Papa Dont Preach but it had to happen sooner or later, the state the music industry is in. Everybodies expendable, look at Mariah...top selling female artist of the 90's and she was booted on her ass.

Just because Ozzy is big on Epic, doesn't mean Kelly has right to continue polluting the world with her mediocre music. If she's got potential, keep her on, however she has not shown any potential or artistic merit so far.

Nepotism can be a double edged sword sometimes.

Ditto, Lady. Exactly what I was thinking.

this suprising news to Kelly Osbournes depature from Epic: (also from the daily dish/sfgate.com)

OZZY OSBOURNE DEPARTS WITH KELLY
LATEST:

Wildman rocker Ozzy Osbourne has followed in daughter Kelly's footsteps by leaving his record label Epic.

Kelly's mother Sharon says the departure of her daughter and husband -- who had been with Epic for 23 years -- is all tied to Sony boss Tommy Mottola's exit in January.

Sharon, who says she negotiated both their exits, explains, "He oversaw everything. We knew what was in store. It's an opportunity to start afresh.

"No one's done anything wrong. After all this time you get used to each other, so it's no longer exciting when a new album is turned in. We want that excitement back."
