Is it worth it man? You see alot of these posts around here. Many of us here have started them and participated.

In the end though, what's everyone's thoughts, rants, beefs with this trend?

Is it....

1 - An important tool to learn more about what people look for and pay attention to. Something that will perhaps help build meaningful conversations.

or

2 - Just an annoying attempt at snobbery that does little to actually help other posters. Something that will only prevent meaningful conversations.

Or, something else?

Hope this topic flies with everyone.

This thread pushes my irony-o-meter to dangerous levels...

I think it's a harmless craze that will go the way of velcro, or VHS.

i'm not sure. i sort of half agree with both of bubba's points. maybe something good will come out of it, and some schmoes will become more aware about the way they post. which would lead to bigger and better debates i should think.

but then equally it could just be about snobbery, trying to put others down and thinly veil swipes at other schmoes.

as to which it is, i am not really sure.

for once though, i agree with lyle. its probably gonna go the way of orange flared jeans before long...

do i personally have a beef with it? well, no, not really. however threads of this kind can have the potential to annoy people. i know that i personally felt like someone was accusing me of something that was very out of character. and that maybe the problem...threads of this type have the potential to get personal...
