R&B hunk Eric Benet has spoken out for the first time about cheating on his stunning actress wife Halle Berry. Benet made tabloid headlines last year when it emerged he had checked into Meadows rehabilitation clinic in Wickenburg, Arizona, for sex addiction therapy after cheating on his Oscar-winning wife of two years. He says, "Before, I was trying to portray an image of this person who I wanted to be - Mr. I'm So Spiritually In Touch With Myself, Mr. I Could Never Cheat On My Wife - I really did want to be all those things, but I just wasn't. "I asked myself, 'Why did I do this thing? I am someone who is deeply in love with my wife. I want to be married...What is this weakness inside me that's allowing this to happen?'"

Benet says of the therapy he and his wife sought after the incident, "It's an extremely painful process. I was so disconnected and not in touch with myself. For whatever reason I had not faced some painful things in my life. "I just kind of learned how to compartmentalize my emotions and not really deal with them. It's a very dangerous thing because then you start doing s*** that doesn't make sense." He adds, "This past year has been cathartic as far as learning what marriage and relationships are all about. It took all this s*** for me to get real, but now I'm singing and writing more honestly."

I can't help but think the guy was really stupid to possibly blow his marriage to Halle. I would have kicked him out- no second chance- oh well. I'm not as forgiving as a lot of these actresses- so many of them arre so needy, considering how beautiful and talented they might be.

On the other hand, I remember when she did the Monster's Ball (which I haven't seen but has a lot of nude sex scenes I guess), and she said she arranged for him to come to a private screening to see the scenes cause she knew it would be hard for him to watch his wife so intimate with another man and she said that he was unbelievably supportive. I remember thinking that he might be repressing a "litlle" bit of what he really felt.What else could he say and then he had to sit there and hear everyone talking about his wife's sex scenes with this other guy- a little bit humiliating!

I think sex scenes are very hard on a marriage and if these actors want to follow this path, why do they get a married? They have to realize that they can NOT have it all, but they keep trying after many divorces and broken realtionships.

Anyway plain fact of the matter is that people will experience cheating at some point in their lives, the question is whether its's an isolated incident or they're a Kennedy.
