UK writer/director Richard Curtis (Bridget Jones's Diary, Notting Hill, "Blackadder") is behind this new ensemble romantic comedy set in London and France. The film has a nice cast and seeing as the projects this man has behind have all been well received, this should be no different. One of the threads follows the brand new (unmarried) Prime Minister (Hugh Grant) of the United Kingdom, who on his first day in 10 Downing Street falls in love with the girl (Martine McCutcheon) who brings him his tea (Emma Thompson plays his sister; Alan Rickman plays her husband). Another story follows the relationship between a stepfather (Liam Neeson) and his young stepson. The stories all intertwine on moments leading up to New Yeras Eve.
Next to Grant (Bridget Jones's Diary), McCutcheon ("Eastenders"), Thompson (Much Ado About Nothing), Rickman (Dogma) and Neeson (Gangs Of New York), the comedy also features Laura Linney (Primal Fear), Rowan Atkinson (Rat Race), Elisha Cuthbert ("24"), Colin Firth (The Importance Of Being Earnest), Keira Knightley (Pirates Of The Carribean) and Denise Richards (Wild Things). Great cast and there's always a certain charm to UK romances.
