that's pretty much the same trailer they had before but in better quality and (finally) in english...

i already saw the 98 minute theatrical version (which i got from Pacific Mall in Toronto on dvd) and I thought it was very good (8/10), but there were some problems with the pacing.

For anyone looking for another Crouching Tiger tho - be warned...they're two VERY VERY different films.

While it seems many Chinese seemed to hate Crouching Tiger (which i loved 10/10), for Hero it seems split - at least here in Ottawa. About half the Chinese people at school for example, just regular average Chinese hated it. And then there are a couple of us Chinese at school who are more movie fans than the ones who hated it that loved it. (The ones who hated it tho are all gamefreaks :p ...they don't watch taht many movies)...

Surprisingly to me, my dad and my mom both loved this movie more than Crouching Tiger (which they loved) my dad even watching it a second time (almost unheard of for him), but other Chinese families that we know hate it.

But go into the movie and don't get your hopes up too high as some may feel disappointed.

What I'm REALLY looking for though is the extended cut...like I said before in another thread, I think the movie could have been amazing with the 20 minutes that Miramax forced Zhang Yimou to cut out for the theatrical release, as some parts of the movie seemed rushed and a bit uneven. (Theatrical version in all countries = 98 minutes. Extended = 118 minutes)

The ONLY other problem i really had with the movie is that because it uses the Rashomon technique, we see a lot of the same characters die over.......and over........and over......again. (though they do their best to try and make it more interesting each time lol) but i don't know how many times i can take characters dying before finally not caring :p.

I saw this movie a few days ago. And I liked some of the fight scenes, but It wasn´t nothing more than another Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The plot was lame and it was kind of boring.
Good action scenes though.

6/10

RE: This was exactly my problem with the film. It essentially tells the same story three times with some variations. When the story came out for the first time, I was totally into it. When it came for the 2nd time I really liked the new perspective to it. But when the third time came I was getting tired. I was tired of being told again that the characters were not really what we thought they were. I was tired of seing small variations of scenes I had already seen.

The first 60-70 minutes got a 8/10, but the third story felt more like 6/10. I didn't exactly get bored, but the thrill was gone and the film turned out to be only mildly interesting.

But I still recommend seeing it, since the first hour is really good, visually it's often *truly* stunning, music is superb, and the acting was quite good as well. Action was sometimes excellent, sometimes mediocre.

Still, the whole was less than a sum of it's parts.

7/10.

I have to say Hero is a lush movie!
It is such an interesting film. It's a martial arts movie with a reallly interesting and decent plot. The cinematography and direction is awesome in it, it makes the whole film look so beautiful, emphasising on the primary colours during different parts of the movie, it's just a stunning piece of work.
But to add to that, the choreography was brilliant, as the fight scenes lived up to those of Croucing Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I was loving this movie from beginning to end.
And what else can you say...it has Jet Li and Zhang Ziyi in it!
