Keira Knightley is a young British actress who may not be a household name, yet, but has an impressive set of films to her name. The stunning actress played Natalie Portman's decoy in the first Star Wars installment, The Phantom Menace though cerainly we may have not know it was her. She appeared alongside Thora Birch in the underrated tenn thriller The Hole where she played party girl Frankie. Her biggest role came in the UK comedy Bend It Like Beckham where she played Jules, a teenage girl obsessed with playing football. Her hair may have been shorter and she was very much of a tomboyish nature, but she was damn fine when she needed to be. Hopefully Keira will recieve the recognition she deserves in the years to come, and with a role in the upcoming Pirates Of The Carribean with Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush, she may have found her breakout role.

Yay. On the way to Pirates of the Carribean on Friday, I was arguing with my friends over who was hotter, Keira or Natalie Portman. (As you can see, we have intelligent conversations. ;) ) They look pretty similar, and since Keira played Natalie's decoy in The Phantom Menace, it was easy to see why we argued about those two. They all insisted Natalie was hotter, but I said Keira. After seeing Pirates of the Carribean they were all convinced that I was right. There was a picture of her with Mickey Mouse in th week before the last issue of Entertainment Weekly. She looked like heaven. :)

She seems pretty talented too, but I've only really seen her give a real performance in Pirates.

Really? Well, that's the first negative thing I've heard about her performance. Interresting. I haven't seen it (hopefully this weekend) but I'll have to go and formulate my own opinion I guess. I thought she was fantastic in Bend it Like Beckham, but that's also the only thing I've seen her in.

I agree, she is gorgeous at a level that insults the decency of man. She might sneak into number four on my "Good-Looking Women List" (I despise the term "Hot List"). A YAY for her looks.

As for her acting, the only film I've seen with her was Pirates of the Caribbean, I found her to be completely not-objectionable, save for her horrid line "Want pain? Try wearing a corset.". A YAY for acting as well.

I know you're entitled to your opinion and I respect that but I strongly disagree here. I know you're not a big fan of neither Kate Hepburn or Bette Davis, but they're my best actress (and two of my favorites of all time) so I'll come to their defense. ;)

I mean, I know most folks might've thought that Keira Knightley did a good job in Pirates of the Caribbean, but I really don't think her performance in that movie could beat most of legends Hepburn and Davis' performances; Kate Hepburn had range and pure talent; if you look at her comedic roles such as Bringing Up Baby, The Philadelphia Story, and Adam's Rib; then look at her more dramatic roles such as Stage Door, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, The Lion in Winter, On Golden Pond, Morning Glory, you could tell that the range is there. And as for Bette Davis, my all time favorite actress, she EXCELS at playing those bad girl type roles and does them so flawlessly, but she also had plenty of range. Her performance in All About Eve alone could beat Keira Knightley's performance in both 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'The Hole' IMO. Not to mention she has done films such as The Little Foxes, All This and Heaven Too, Now Voyager, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, The Petrified Forest, Dangerous, Jezebel, Deception, Dark Victory, Watch on the Rhine, Of Human Bondage, The Nanny, etc. etc. etc., but those films mentioned above prove her true talent as an actress, IMO. Much more than a legend, much more than a movie star, but an actress as well. That goes for Hepburn too. Rant done.

Well.... I don't like Katherine Hepburn, no doubt about that. I just don't like her style. I haven't seen All About Eve (I know, Hannibal, I know), but what I have seen Davis in, I either didn't like, or didn't like her performance. I find them to be the two most overrated actrresses out there. Maybe it was an overstatement to say Knightley is better than them. The movie Bend it like Beckham was awful, and she was the only decent part. So I guess calling her better than Hepburn and Davis was a wee bit much on my part, I still think Keira is a good actress. And very hot too.

Hey! I thought she was extremely good in Pirates of the Carribean. I'd say that it's better than most of Katherine Hepburn's performances. Or Bette Davis'. But that's my opinion.

Nay. She's definitely a goodlooking girl, but it requires more than that to rank in film history, or even to maintain a career. I think she has a real flavour of the month feel about her, and will have to choose her films very carefully if she wants to last.

I find her somewhat underwhelming, an average actress, although she hasn't really had a role to genuinely sink her teeth into. I'm not holding out much hope after seeing her lacklustre performances - her and Orlando in POTC were the poor man's Kate and Leo, after all - but she has the face to be on a few magazine covers.

Yea I'm back and forth on it.

One minute I just wish she would stop talking and the next she's got me hooked on her every word. Although in her defense she doesn't sound as bad as she does in that trailer all the time. That trailer nearly put me off the film.

On her looks - She is just impossibly beautifull.
