View Full Version : What did you think of SHE CREATURE?
Not sure if this has been discussed before ... anyways -
SHE CREATURE, made for TV Creature Feature movie. I just bought EARTH VS THE SPIDER the other day and thought it was pretty good in a cheezy kinda way, now I'm thinking about picking up SHE CREATURE as well - and maybe those other CF flicks: TEENAGE CAVEMAN and HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER which are all out on DVD.
Any opinions?

I foun that the direction was decent and the actors good (especially the hottie Carla Gugino) but the film is definitely boring. nothing happens except at the ending. Nice creature then.
03/10.

edit, let me give you the lowdown on the creature feature movies. like you said, they're cheesy. super cheesy. drowning-the-nacho-chips cheesy. and what makes them so cheesy is that they actually take themselves seriously. so, if you liked that about "earth vs. the spider," you'll like the rest of them.
oh, and let me give you a renegade opinion on "teenage caveman" before everyone else starts to flame it mercilessly like they always do. no plot? check. near-naked 18 year olds of both genders? check. who really can't act? check. lots of sex? check. lots of drugs? check. lots of violence? check. i mean, who wouldn't want to see this piece of trash? it's a so-bad-it's-good classic - for me at least (and trust me, i know i'm alone on this).

In my eyes, the best of the Creature Features lot is How to Make a Monster. She-Creature is solid. The rancid made-for-TV stench can be unbearable at times, but it serves up a capable cast, a unique premise, and of course, a nifty creature. And I failed to see Teenage Caveman as a so-bad-it’s-good flick. It was more of a so-bad-it’s-hazardous-to-my-fucking-health flick.

I really, really enjoyed She Creature. It was very well acted, and the creature was amazing, thank to Stan winstons studios as allways good make up fx.
I also liked how the story unravelled itself, kind of in a mysterious and spooky manner...with that carnival setting, and the old man in the beginning telling that spooky story about the mermaid and how evil she was. And then actually having captured her. Good stuff. I didnt expect it to be so good.
Earth vs. The Spider was Spider-man as a horror film. What if instead of Peter Parker having all this waaay cool powers, he suddenly started to mutate into a horrible spider like humanoid. What if instead of still being a human with spider-like abilities he started to loose his humanity and turn into a horrible spider creature? Id describe it sort of like a mix between Spider-man The The Fly. Enjoyed the hell out of it and I really got to like the characters. Specially the guy whos going thru the spider change. He was just a regular guy, with a regular job, who was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
I also liked the comic book aspect of this film. They sort of told the movie like if you were reading a comic book, even the main character collected comics, which I liked very much cause I love comics. :D
Starts out as a really fun movie, with the guy discovering his powers but it gets a bit darker as it progresses so be on the look out for that.

I've only seen one of those Creature Feature Flicks and that was Teenage Caveman.. The 'series' itself still sounds like it could be a bit of fun, though...

I loved it. The acting was good, the visuals on target, and it borrowed off a legend/fairytale I'd heard as a child that mermaids/sirens aren't the romantic figures they are cracked up to be.

I really enjoyed this fairly gory sci-fi outing. She Creature is worth a watch or two and isn't boring. A unique style also helps the film rise above it's budget.

She creature was an enjoyable watch. I viewed it yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by it. The creature looked almost real which helps. The plot was a good one and it kept me watching.

A couple of good effects and the super hot girl who played the mermaid are probably the only good things I can say about this flick. It was way too cheezy. Not much happend and I didn't really care for any of the characters. I never really liked any of the creature features.

I've only seen Earth Vs The Spider and I thought it was really good considering my expectations going into it. It was one of those movies I just happened to catch out of the corner of my eyes in the store. Pretty good effects in it. Isn't there also one about a kid that gets powers or something, I forget the title.
