View Full Version : INDY IV: release date confirmed, music, stunts, and no Sallah?

John Williams about the soundtrack: "Indiana Jones [IV] will be a challenge because we'll now have to recast the film with Harrison Ford as a mature Indiana Jones, if you like, and a more mature composer will be doing the score! Until I see a script or see the film it will be hard for me to tell how much of the early material will apply -- if any."
About the Raiders March: "I would have thought Indiana Jones is now a pretty well-known theme and at least will be referred to as some type of memory trace if nothing else."

Vic Armstrong about the stunts of INDY IV: "I saw Steven at the Golden Globes and I asked him about Indy IV, and he said 'clear your diary because we're on'."

John Rhys-Davies about Sallah probably not returning: "I get asked this question 25 times a week, and everyone knows more than I do. I guess I'm not in it. In truth, I'd love to work for Steven again. I'd love to have one more go at Sallah, get him right. You come close, but you always want to have one last bash at trying to make the character magical."

And the summer 2005 release date's been confirmed, and Frank Darabont's almost done with the script.

All the news are good except...no Sallah? Aw, c'mon...please say it ain't so! :(

Thanks to www.theraider.net for the info.

Sounds good... but for the love of the virgin mary, we must have Sallah featured in the film!!! Making another Indiana Jones film without Sallah, that's a disgrace! We might have to create a petition, it won't help, but we should create one all the same.... :D

i heard this as well from theradier.net (THE BEST INDY SITE EVER!)

I will miss John, Sallah was just as much a part of the films as the artifact in search... :(

John also said he was involved with a commentary recording for the Riaders(!!) DVD, as did Vic Armstrong on all three, no word as of yet if John will do one for The Last Crusade.

Truely sad news... but not really bad news, i just wish the last scene in The Last Crusade of Sallah, Marcus, Dr. Henry Jones and Indy riding off into the sunset would still be the last image we see in the amazing saga...

A commentary on the DVD's? I thought the press release said there were no commentaries on any of the movies. Could there be secret commentaries floating around? It's a conspiracy I tell you... a conspiracy!! :D

Agreed on both counts.

I'll miss Sallah to. Saying that he wasn't in Temple of Doom and that was good. I'd like to see Sallah and Marcus come back to be honest. They were a great comedy team in the Last Crusade. Sallah was the guy who had ties everywhere and Marcus was the bumbling guy who got caught up in everything. Great stuff.

Me too...but we know Marcus won't, as Denholm Elliot passed away a few years ago.

Yeah that is sad, but I dont think it will be much of a problem. Lucas will have ILM create a digital Denholm Elliot and insert him in certain scenes. Lucas can bring people back from the dead...he has the power! :p

Please don't encourage Lucas. He will do it if you provoke him. As for Marcus I don't think he'll be in the movie considering his dead. Speilburg won't want to get a different actor in to play him.

I really can't wait for this movie!!
