These two Hammer films released by Anchor Bay are at Sam Goody for 10 dollars each. I should expand my Hammer collection of a whooping two. What are you thoughts on them?

The Mummy's Shroud (1967)
The Lost Continent (1968)

I'm a Hammer fan, but haven't seen those two, or they didn't stick with me as memorable. If you are a collector, by all means the price is right. I tend to think of Hammer as a great house for vampire films--don't pass up those when they come available.

I am an avid Hammer Horror fan and here's my opinion andI have seen and own just about all of Hammer Films, mostly horror.

The 1st, The Mummy's Shroud is a decent film with some cool and grizzly death scenes. But can be slow in parts. This film was the 3rd mummy produced by Hammer and was the last film to be shot on Bray Studios, where Hammer had made their films. "Beware the beat of the wrapped cloth feet!"

The 2nd, The Lost Continent is a good scifi film with some, for it's time, special effects. The Dennis Wheatley novel is a good read.

Neither are Hammer at their best but both are well worth the money .
The Mummys Shroud is a solid little tale featuring Hammer favourite Michael Ripper in a memorable role as Mr Longbarrow .
Christopher Lee's stuntman Eddie Powell is beneath the bandages and there's plenty fun to be had .
The Lost Continent is more family orientated . It stars Eric Porter ( from Hands Of The Ripper ) and Susanah Leigh ( Lust For A Vampire ) Personally I don't care for the film but I know it has a bit of a cult following .
If it's Hammer horror you're interested in give " Continent" a miss. Still ....... for $10.00 ..... what the hell .

Actually, which are the best of Hammer horror movies?
I`d just write them down in a list to buy or sth., because I haven`t seen any hammer movies for many years now....don`t remember enough to have any oppinions on them.....
Prefferingly something original....I`m a bit tired of the Frankenstein`s monster and Dracula themes at the moment....hope it`ll pass though.

Not an easy question to answer . Especially for someone so biased like me .
I LOVE Hammer films . They are part of my life from childhood till now ( I'm 40 this year )
However , if I had to choose a top ten .........

1 Dracula ( aka Horror Of Dracula )
2 Curse Of Frankenstein
3 Twins Of Evil
4 Quatermass And The Pit
5 The Devil Rides Out
6 Blood From The Mummys Tomb
7 Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell
8 The Mummy
9 Dr Jekyll And Sister Hyde
10 Hands Of The Ripper

You really can't go wrong with any of the above .

My rule with Hammer movies is to just get them... they for the most part are quite solid films and tend to range from excellent to okay but never seem bad.

Lost Continent is one of those films where dinosaur means lizards with paper fins stuck to their backs... but still, you might as well try it.

I would say that some good hammer film are:

One Million Years B.C.
When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth
Horror of Dracula
and there are some more but can't remember...

In addition to Cushing and Gluttony's recommendations, I would suggest:

Lust For A Vampire

The Vampire Lovers

Rasputin the Mad Monk

To The Devil A Daughter (based on a Denis Wheatly novel. I think it was the last horror film Hammer made, and Christopher Lee puts in a particularly evil performance)

Also, I heartily recommend 'Blood On Satan's Claw' (aka Satan's Skin, and Satan's Claw) - it's not actually a Hammer film, but it was a British film made in a similar style and I doubt it will disappoint if you're into this stuff.
