I noticed somewhere on another website that the Hammer television program (very brief run) is available as a set on dvd. I remember seeing a couple of episodes, Charlie Boy standing out as one, and want to know if the set is a worthwhile purchase. Thanks!

I remember watching these as a kid, and when I eventually find a box set of the DVDs for around £25 I'll snap it up, but I'm not prepared to pay full price, as of the 13 episodes, about half were classics, and the other half merely mediocre!

The best episodes (IMO) were the aforementioned Charley Boy (about a voodoo doll), Children Of The Full Moon (about, well......use your imagination!), Silent Scream (a great twist in this one), and The House That Bled To Death (or maybe it was The House That Dripped Blood, but you get the picture!)

A good set to own, and no doubt watching them will bring back some good (and bad) memories, but still a bit pricey for this Schmoe! :)

Thanks for your input Fettdog, that's what I was hoping to find out. Anthology series are kind of 50/50, but my memories are fond of it, so I'll probably wait until a good deal comes up, or until I save enough Sam Goody coupons to get it on the cheap.

As you might have guessed from my avatar and name , I'm a HUGE Hammer fan .
The House Of Horror t.v. series is a bit of a mixed bag however .
It's pretty tame stuff but mostly enjoyable in a nostalgic sense .
Charlie Boy , Silent Scream and Children Of The Full Moon stand out but the rest are entertaining and nothing more . I'm pleased that the collection is on dvd and , of course , I bought it . The picture and sound quality is amazing and , if you keep an eye on e-bay , it can be well worth the purchase .
More importantly , Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell and Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter are soon to be unleashed on dvd ........... now that's Hammer !

Just bought this set off of ebay for a $35 buy in now option. It's offered by A&E, the folks who market this set which is nearly $70 in the stores. If anyone else is interested, it sounds like a good deal for a new 4 disc set by the actual producers of it.
