Disney seems to have this new Platinum Edition thing going on and their first release is this awesome 2-Disc set of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" which comes out Oct. 9. I was thinking that since this is Disney's first animated feature and the first DVD of it's kind from Disney....are they going to go in order with all of their animated classics and bring all of them onto a this similar 2-Disc set? They should seeing as all of their others on DVD seem to suck because they are just the movie with no extra's. Does anyone know if they are bringing all of their 38 animated features to this 2-Disc set? If not, where could I find info about it, if they are or not?

I mean look at these friggin' extras for "Snow White"...

If Walt Disney Pictures keeps popping out these great DVDs. New Line Platinum should watch their backs. That extra list is amazing. I can't wait to buy it.

Damn...that DVD looks to put "Fight Club" to shame. I can't wait for it. I love all of those classic Disney films. I hope that they make all of them that way too.

The Disney Platinum series will contain 10 of their biggest animated hits/achievements. They will be released on video and DVD one per year. This is a new way of dealing with Disney's "moratorium" period in which they do not sell certain movies. The other films will still be released periodically, but there will always be one platinum film available(if I remember correctly). It's been a while since I read about this, so don't hold it against me if I'm not 100% correct. I do know that all of Disney's animated films will not be released in thsi collection.
Films that I can remember are for sure in the Platinum series:
Snow White
Cinderella
The Lion King
Beauty and the Beast

Ones I think are in the collection:
Sleeping Beauty
Aladdin
101 Dalmations
The Little Mermaid
(it seems like I read these names)

Guesses for the remaining movies:
Pinnochio
Fantasia

Oh yes, my favorite ones or going to that DVD, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, but I will buy them all. They should have all pf them brought back since their other DVD's for their movies are out but only contain the movie and no extras...

"Snow White" is a definate since you can already order it from Amazon.com

BTW, "Beauty and the Beast" (1992 Best Picture nominee) is supposed to go to IMAX or other giant screen theaters on Jan 1, 2002 to celebrate it's 10th anniversary, except, I don't get it, because it came out in 1991, so this is it's 10th anniversary year (silly Disney), anyway I think that after it's in theaters it'll go to DVD and I am friggin' buyin it.
