Some examples that spring into mind for me are:

Forrest Gump
I Am Sam
Cherish

What are yours?

VANILLA SKY...

... but even a soundtrack by The Smurfs would've been better than that movie

Stealing Beauty...excellent soundtrack; mediocre movie.

The same goes for the soundtrack to Dead Presidents...

Oh mah gah, I love that soundtrack! I think I'll play it right now. (I'm alone right now, and it's just too cheesy to play within earshot of "normal" people.) BTW, the movie is my favorite sequel in the series. Too bad the soundtrack doesn't have that Sinead O'Connor track that plays during the credits, though; it's on her Lion and the Cobra album, but without the rap break.

"Sleep sleep under the night night stars..."

Anyway, here's more cool soundtracks to movies I don't care for:

Good Will Hunting
Blow
Sliver
Tank Girl

Then there's those really cheesy '80s movie soundtracks I'll never admit to liking: Playing for Keeps, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Hiding Out, Earth Girls Are Easy...

Good picks so far, guys.

Although I really enjoyed the movie Empire Records. It's one of the only movies in that genre that I found amusing.

:)

Oh and I loved Good Will Hunting. Elliott Smith kicks ass.

That's the one w/ Billy Bob and Bruce, right? I loved that movie! After Cate Blanchett's red-headed dance around the kitchen singing Bonnie Tyler, I went right out and bought myself some nice-n-easy. I was a flaming redhead for a while....

Cruel Intentions, a good soundtrack (Placebo, Aimee Mann, The Verve) but I had a tough time finishing that film even though I like Reese Witherspoon.
A Life Less Ordinary, again a good complication (Beck, Luscious Jackson, Sneaker Pimps, REM, The Cardigans, Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin) but I would never watch that movie again either.

Earth Girls Are Easy...

'Cause I'm a blonde, yeah yeah yeah...

NOES 4 also had Dramarama. Oh yes and The Divinyls. God I love soundtracks. I bought THE LION AND THE COBRA for" I Want Your (Hands on Me)" but ended up loving the entire thing.

I used to love the song Crazy For You by Madonna, and then they wasted it in that hunk-of-junk movie Vision Quest.

I'd have to say:

Empire Records
Varsity Blues
The New Guy

Resident Evil: composed by Marylin Manson (not that the movie was bad or anything)

Mortal Combat: KMFDM, Orgy not sure what else (again the movie wasn't bad)

I remember liking the Scream 3 soundtrack a lot back in the day, despite never caring for the movie.

Queen of the Damned had a good soundtrack too.

The one thing I didn't like about the "Spawn" soundtrack is that it really fucked with one of my favorite Metallica songs, "For Whom the Bell Tolls." WTF was that shite? It sounded alike Alvin and the Chipmunks techno version or something.
