Well well well..yesterday the highly anticipated tour rolled into my town and I was there. The opening acts were The Mars Volta and Queens of the Stone Age. I arrived late, and by the time I had finally found my seat, Queens were already halfway through their short set. They sounded good but the lighting was horrible and they had no projection screen. I must say, Josh Homme can sing!

The main course were, ofcourse, the Peppers themselves. All in all, they did a good job. It wasn't their best show, and it certainly wasn't their worst one. Kiedis' voice seems to have rested well during the two years off the road. He sounded pretty good. Still, he sang out of key quite frequently and fucked up a couple of verses by not remembering the lyrics. John did a couple of solo numbers, including a cover of "Eighteen" by Alice Cooper. The highlight of the night was definitely "Breaking the girl"; I never expected to hear it in concert. I must say they played it with a flawless precision and it was quite a delight. Overall, it was my fourth time seeing the band live, and I wasn't dissapointed. I give last night's concert a well-deserved B+!

Now I'm curious if anybody else went to see them and if it was any good.

How did you like the Mars Volta?

I fucking love The Mars Volta. They are one of the best live bands of all time in my eyes. I've seen the chili Peppers three times and adored all three shows. They consistantly prove that they are some of the finest msuicians making music today.

Ooh shit I just reread your post and I guess you missed them... Try to catch them in your hometown if they come. They are extremely good.

Yeah I missed The Mars Volta. Lately it seems I've been having a hard time sitting or standing through more than 2 opening bands on the bill. I find it really tiresome.

And they are. What I called them is not an insult but rather a term of endearment, like a pet name or something.

Yeah you're right. But I guess I'm getting old. :) How do all these people go to Ozzfests, lollapaloozas and whatnot, I can't imagine. Sitting there for twelve fucking hours just to get a glimpse of Ozzy in a wheelchair and then go home with a sense of mission accomplished. I dunno.. I'm just kidding though.

Ok, I just got back from the Chili Peppers and I have to say " GOD DAAAAAAAAAMNNNN!"

I think I've just had a religious or spiritual experience. WHatever you wanna call it.

I do not have the words to fully describe what I experienced tonight.

This and U2's Popmart Tour are my Top 2 concerts. The Peppers are a phenomenon that should be experienced by all.

And Queens of the Stone Age were the shit while Mars Volta was just (sigh) , sorry Flea, shit.

I thought Snoop Dogg was touring with them too? When they're coming to Houston it's billed as RHCP, Snoop Dogg, & Mars Volta.
