OK guys, I'm going to trust you not to turn this into an "I love Bush/I hate Bush" political debate. What do you think Schwarzenegger, if he should be doing this, your opinions on him and his ideas, etc.?
From the IMDb (http://www.imdb.com)
Schwarzenegger Battles Bush
Hollywood action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger is taking on a new battle - with American president George W. Bush. The Austrian-born Terminator star is strongly opposing the Bush administration's plan to cut $400 million in after-school spending - and he took his protest all the way to Washington DC to address the Senate Tuesday. He said, "If our children are out future, our future is in jeopardy every afternoon between 3 and 6pm, when unsupervised children are roaming the streets. Educating our children should not stop at 3pm when the school bell rings." Schwarzenegger, who currently runs a national after-school foundation, led a successful drive last year to expand after-school programs in California. He plans to join Education Department officials, police, teachers and others on June 5-6 to share after-school ideas.

I guess that makes him pro-Saddam, pro-Bin Laden and pro-French fries. Time to start making piles of Raw Deal and Terminator DVDs and torching them.

My God! A Republican who questions the actions of a sitting Republican president!
Quick! Someone get a hold of Ripley's!!
The man's stock has risen in my eyes.
Well anyway he's right. I mean so far this tax cut has taken a cut out of Veteran's Benefits, right when our troops were in the middle of a war, and now after school programs and of course many other programs and departments. Whatever you're getting back on this cut sure isn't gonna pay for medical bills or day care for litte Johnny.
Go Arnie.

Our school systems are slowly rotting away beofre our eyes. The san diego school district where I know alot of the teachers at just let hundreds of teachers go do to not having a big enough budget. Art and music has been cut to shreds. School has become one of our nations lowest priorities. If you want to see a dangerous school system check out the one set up in texas which Bush brags about. That terrifies me. I'm glad arnold is stepping to the plate because we need more celiberites helping out with the cause.

Sure I think he should be doing this. He heads an after school program that will be affected by the cuts. He is speaking to the legislative branch to try to sway their opinion. I'd say it is very appropriate.

I think the real issue is why are there so many kids at home alone from 3-6? maybe the adults should try to make some different choices in their lives and start putting kids first. I know a lot of two income families who could live on one income if they did away with some of their luxuries.and there are many people who have kids with as much thought as they would adopt a kitten. I've heard some teenagers say that they deliberately got pregnant cause they wanted somone to love them. Unfortunately, the kids often get the short end of the stick on this deal.
I think there should be some afternoon activities for kids who are REALLY in need (their parents are in real dire straits) but it is also icky to me that these kids spend all day in school and then they have to stay there another three hours doing homework- what a life!

ummm... what is wrong with what Schwarzenegger did????
he has always been for positive after school stuff for youths... and he has a very valid argument that he is bringing to the senate. He isnt just being a pussy and saying "i dont agree with bush" on a talk show or anything, he is takin his ass to the senate and letting it be known that there is a decision that bush has made that is out of whack, and it needs to be fixed.

Oh, and remember when people wondered why everyone hates America?
Statements like that, that's why.

Please more careful about such comments in the future. Even if it's sarcasm this could start a small war on the boards that might end with a few schmoes banned.:(
BTW I don't hate America. Yes I have seen some that say they hate Canadians, some that boo our anthem and some that make annoying stereotype references (I NEVER say 'eh?') but it's a nice place to visit and the people are quite friendly.:)

Buck...apologies. :D
And MacReady...if Buck had been serious about the comment, I don't see what's so bad about mine. Wasn't the least bit sarcastic. I don't hate America either -- but many people do. Problem is, some Americans would've said EXACTLY what Buck said earlier -- except they wouldn't have been sarcastic at all. I'm not saying the majority, far from it probably, but some of them -- and our friend Double-U isn't far from being one of them. I'd never boo an anthem or anything like that, and I didn't lack respect to anyone -- I'm just stating a fact: half the world hates America and Americans because of half-witted, cocky, over-patriotic, misinformed statements (not saying Buck is any of those ;). And if that starts a "small war" on the boards -- I don't give a flying fuck, even if it becomes a big war. I'm not here to rub people the right way, I'm here to say what I think.

1. Yes, I was being ironic.
2. Logan's exactly right in everything he wrote above.
We are resented and laughed at because of exactly that sort of moronic reflexive jimgoism.
We're also hated for some absurd reasons, but a lot of those reasons (we don't kill women in the street for wearing pants, for example...) are also reasons that cause those same assholes to hate every place in the world that has an open society.
Places like France.

Bush has angered Arnold Schwartzenegger. That's the last thing he needs. He's angered the Terminator. How many people can say that and still be alive?

I think its a great idea and I applaud him for doing this. School system is really going to hell. We see it a lot here in Florida, especially the county Im in. My brother's in junior high school right now and you wouldn't believe the things that go on.
We really need to start helping the kids! The school system is being hypocrital to me - they say "graduate the 12th grade" but then do all this stupid testing stuff. In the county over here only 30% passed the math part of the FCATs and 35% the reading, but they passed the 12th grade with good grades. Hm.
Well, why should they go to school at al if getting the good grades through the year doesn't matter? Anyway off topic sorry :D
As for one of the above posts about stay at home parents/working thing (sorry - sore subject for me, I won't comment on it again) I have to say this: Many kids who are have stay at home parents still don't get the love they need. Any many parents who stay at home due to misguidings or other circumstances who aren't cut out for sitting at home end up miserable, and in the ends the kids sense this as well. Sorry, but having a parent sit at home if it's not their personality wouldn't fix today's problems with kids.
Not all cases, but realistic part of human nature, sorry folks.
Anyway, Go Arnold!!!!!!!! :D

What Arnold said rocks!
I also don't think Logan should feel too much of ass, right now. When I was reading the posts you can outright see the point that such words are why America is looking foolish right now. It was nothing personal between Logan and Buck. Just words.
And yes, our PUBLIC school system is depleating, that's why it's interesting that Florida's governor BUSH is using federal funding, not to go to public schools, but to pay to have kids in underfunded schools attend PRIVATE schools.
I could go on for HOURS about the BUSHES and yes, their is at least two others we know of so let's stop saying BUSH - singular.....
errrr.
....don't d.......

LOL :D I inadvertently burst out laughing at that. Unexpected, but not in the least unwelcome. Thanks for the laugh man.
