Pitch Black thoughts

I decided to check this out again last night since I hadn't seen it in a while. I remember liking it quite a bit when I first saw it and I think I enjoyed it even more this time when I realized how well made it was.

The cinematography and directing are top notch, especially in the first half of the film. The characters were out of the norm for this type of movie, especially Vin Diesel's character. Different to see a character that would usually be the villain in the film pass off as the "hero". Oh yeah, gotta give props to them for putting Keith David in the film, awesome actor :cool:

I thought the effects for the creatures were pretty decent, luckily they were kept in the dark most of the time so some of the bad cgi effects were unnoticable. The story definitely takes back seat to visuals and the characters.

I think this is a very underrated movie. Sorry if this is turning into more of a review, I just didn't think it was long enough to post in reviews. What are your thoughts on this film?

Personally I thought this was a horror movie gem. http://smilies.crowd9.com/otn/love/luxlove.gif Vin Diesel is an incredible actor (in my humble opinion of course) and seemed made for this role. An original space plot, unique lighting, good overall cast.

It kept me enthralled. Some good death scenes, good conflict between characters, freaky looking creature monsters. Didn't rely only on shock effect. Surprise ending. Very good, VERY nicely done! I LOVE this one!

Of course there were some unrealistic parts but what the hell...it's a movie that I enjoyed - although I have heard some anti-schmoe opinions around on the board! http://216.40.249.192/s/contrib/dvv/cwmdie.gif

I really enjoyed it, all the acting was excellent IMO, the effects were great and the direction was good.

A very enjoyable flick, sure there were probably some flaws but i didnt notice them since i was having a great time,

i really hated pitch black. vin dick is such a twat and i hate him. anything he is in is usualy ruined buy him but it didnt even take him 2 ruin this [pile of shite. its just annother hollywood action turd to me.

I don't really like science fiction movie but it was a good surprise to me ( well I like Aliens, X - Men, X - Men 2 a lot )

I like it enough to watch it every once in awhile, it has it's flaws but nothing that bugs me too much.

I rented Pitch Black and The Cube on the same night, I lucked into a decent double feature

The CGI was messy, but all in all, Pitch Black is decent fun. I don't have much faith in the sequel, though. It's shaping up to be a hollow "blockbuster," which is the last thing we need right now.

Was this sci-fi?? Oh well I consider most sci fi I like horror anyway.

I could easily describe this entire movie with one word: "Entertaining"

However, I just love to talk till I turn blue in the face so I'm gonna say more about it.

It was, in my opinion, one of those modern horror-action movies. Not a 100% horror (or 100% sci-fi). I do think it was interesting and entertaining. I never regreated seeing it, but it's far from classic in my books. I have no problems with Vin Diesel, although xXx was pretty... irritating. I hope he's not gonna do more movies like that.

I have read in Mad Movies ( outstanding french magazine devoted to the horror genre, if u speak french please take a look it deserves it ! ) that there will have a Pitch Black,too.
It will be good to see Riddik making his come - back.

I actually didn't like this movie at all.... Maybe I have to try and sit through it again.. I just can't stand Vin Diesel for some reason, even when I saw him in Saving Private Ryan I was like "Man for some reason that guy pisses me off." His only good performance was as the Iron Giant I mean come on people that was a steller performance.
