Ok, so they might not exactly be the type of music a lot of people here listen to, but just wondering if anyone here likes OLP?

I've been a fan since their 1997 album Clumsy, and I just love their songs, their style, etc...

They've changed a lot, as after Spiritual Machines, they came out with the slightly more mainstream cd "Gravity" with the hits Somewhere Out There (ok song) and to a somewhat lesser degree Innocent (ok song) and Made of Steel (great song :D)

My favorites from each of their cds since Clumsy are:

Clumsy: Clumsy, 4 am (my favorite song), Superman's Dead

Happiness...: this would be my favorite album of theirs, i love EVERY song on this album except for Consequence of Laughing...my favorite song on this album would be Thief, which is tied with 4am as my favorite song, other ones that stand out are Blister, Potato Girl and Is Anybody Home...

Spiritual Machines: decent album, my favorites are Are You Sad, Right Behind You, and In Repair. Not a big fan of their biggest hit off of this called "Life"

Gravity: better than Spiritual Machines, but very different...more mainstream hardcore rock sound...favorites are Made of Steel and Story About a Girl...

And I love the piano rendition of the song from their first album Naveed, called "Julia"...a fan of theirs made this originally loud rock song into a softer piano song which is just plain amazing...that fan is now a pretty big Cdn artist by the name of Sarah Slean...you can't find the song anywhere i don't think except if you download off of iMesh or kazAA or somehting like that...

Anyway, I know this band is starting to finally break through in the U.S. after soo long, (they've been famous in Canada for years and years now...almost all of their songs have made it to #1 on the Muchmusic charts since their debut) and i'm wondering if any of you listen to them?

For anyone who hasn't heard their older stuff, I advise you to check out some of the older albums before Gravity, they are really amazing...

Check out Thief, it's my favorite song along with 4am, and it just hit me a lot harder after one of my friends died...

"Thief" lyrics....

I don't want to understand this horror
There's a weight in your eyes that I can't admit
Everybody ends up here in bottles
But the nametags the last thing you wanted

As the world explodes we fall out of it
But we can't let go because this
Will not go away
There's a house built out in space...
I can't see that thief that lives inside of your head
But I can be some courage at the side of your bed
I don't know whats happening and I won't pretend
But I can be your...
Someone help us understand who ordered
This disgusting arrangement with time and the end
I don't want to hear who walked on water
Because the hallways are empty and the clock ticks

As the world explodes we fall out of it
But we can't let go because this
Will not go away
There's a house built out in space...
I can't see that thief that lives inside of your head
But I can be some courage at the side of your bed
I don't know whats happening and I won't pretend
But I can be your...

Also, unlike a lot of mainstream rock bands out there nowadays, the thing i like about Our Lady Peace is that they don't just sing about girls, chicks, getting drunk, etc or wutever...a lot of their songs have a lot of weight...

I think they are okay, nothing special. But I did have a couple of their CD's.

They've been leeching off of every pop trend since Naveed.

"We'd like to thank Our Lady Peace for keeping our old music alive."

i love smashing pumpkins as well, but while it's true that they've changed styles over time, their cds Clumsy and Happiness weren't really leaching...I agree that their more recent ones, maybe, but still, does it matter? as long as the music's good, i don't really care if they get their styles from other places...

Besides, you could do a lot worse, if you put it that way, there are tons of bands that "leach" off pop trends...

I'll always have a soft spot for OLP. I think Clumsy is one of the best Alt Rock albums of the 90's. I haven't really taken a shine to Gravity yet, maybe because all the songs sound too...radio friendly.

Regardless, still one of my favourite bands.

Superman's Dead is my fave OLP song.

Our Lady Peace pissed me off when the singer started to OBVIOUSLY try to sing like Billy Corgan on the "Clumsy" album.

He didn`t use to sing like that before! WTF?
And he doesn`t sing like that now, either.

OLP was, like, my first official rock band. It all started with Clumsy, which is was (and still is) an awesome CD. Then it lowered a bit with Happiness. Then it lowered even more with Spiritual Machines. And then I lost track.

So basically, I used to love 'em, but now I wouldn't even be able to recognize a song from them (unless of course, the song showed off Raine's ability to make a high-pitched 'WHHYY-EEE-IIII-EEE-IIII' without having anyone kick him in the balls).
