Eraserhead & 8 1/2 - Tough to explain, but I guess these two movies are the fountainheads that helped me remember the importance and significance of imagination and an inner life after I'd nearly lost them when I became an "adult."

Only one I can think right now is:

Swimming with Sharks - "Everybody lies, good guys lose, and love does not conquer all." Truest line ever said in a film.

Probably movies like American Beauty or Saving private Ryan that prove life is short live it to the fullest even those aren't the exact messages they send I am glad that I am where I am today and these films helped me notice I've got a good life.

The Royal Tenanbaums: There are people in this world who think just like I do.
Rules of Attraction: You never really know anybody.
Almost Famous: Relax, have fun, chill out, be different.
Moulin Rouge and Say Anything...: When in doubt, play or sing a song.
Singles: Even though you're through with highschool and college, it doesn't mean that you cannot still move ahead in life, or change it. Things can happen when you make them happen.
Dr. Strangelove: Learn the passwords ahead of time ;)

Natural Born Killers Hey, I'm NOT crazy!
Le Grande Blue I want to learn to free-dive (and did it!) Plus I want to live in Greece, and one day it WILL happen.
Bram Stoker's Dracula Like the tagline says: Love Never Dies
Hair One of the first movies that made me think about discrimination and racism.
The Day After Although I saw this movie only once, it really scared me, for obvious reasons.. But, I was a tiny bit too young back then, maybe I should see it again.. I mean, maybe it's all very dated by now, after 9/11 and all..
Bowling For Colombine The animation-bit is the PERFECT resumee of The American History, from now on I will remember it like that.
Star Trek I'm not talking a bout a particular movie, series or story. It's just the general lay-out, I think the future will be a bit high-tech as it is there. A friend of mine already has a 'pad', and a sonic-toothbrush, things get smaller all the time..(remember the first video-camara? Or walk-man? Think about it..)

The Silence of the Lambs: Everyone has his nightmarish visions about the past. Eveyone is Clarice. Everyone saw his own spring lambs being slaughtered. Everyone hears their screaming. What makes a difference is to find the peace, the silence of your own lambs.

A. I: Can't say why. Beautiful film. I felt so much related to David: having this great and unexplainable amount of love in my heart and being rejected because of it. And on the other hand: Haley Joel Osment's performance made me believe that Oscars SUCK BIG TIME when he wasn't nominated for best actor.

Moulin Rouge: The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in returned!

The Others Made me question my own exestince! Am I alive or dead? and what's the difference?

Does my post dound too corny?.. anyways,
Great topic!

Well...i've never seen a movie that's actually changed my life. I have seen a few that have altered my perception of certain facets of society though.

Example...

I saw a fantastic movie call Lilja 4-ever a few weeks ago. The whole thing was about a 16 year old Russian girl who is tricked by the promise of a better life in a different country into a life of captivity and prostitution. Now...I knew teenage prostitution existed before seeing this movie but witnessing the tragic circumstances and the way that the trap was sprung was a real eye-opener. It was all too believable.

That's just one example. There are many.

For me...well it goes like this.

A Field of Dreams- If you really belive in something...I mean really believe...go with it, and no matter what, you will be satisfied with the results.

Road to Perdition- You don't have to grow up and be like you father...also..family comes first.

BlackHawk Down and Saving Private Ryan- What our soldiers go through and deal with...families and all...can not be put into words. We owe these men a great deal of gratitude for the sacrifices they make for each and every citizen of this country...and others...looking for nothing in return from us average citizens. It overwhelms me sometimes to think there are widows out there, and the people who feed their faces at McDonalds or Wendy's don't understand or appreciate or respect what these soldiers have done and continue to do for this country!

Off my soap box...great topic by the way.
