I joined the Columbia House DVD Club a little over a month ago. I love it so far, despite the fact that they charge the Manufacturer's Price for the DVD's. But if you buy other DVD's, you get those for great prices.
Does anyone else belong to the Columbia House DVD club here? Is there any one here how has had a bad experience with it?

lol...my advice for you is dont join the club if you dont intend to pay. Ive got "north shore credit agency" after me for $70. (I didnt get any of the 3 selections i had to get....I joined the club 6 years ago and transferred my acct to the dvd club 3 years ago). I think im going to pay before I get incarcerated. Anyone think that I could get away with it?

I join, but I never use my real name. That way if they piss me off, fukem! I hear they're after some guy named "Miguel O'Hara". Apperently he didn't pay for a lot of the CD's he got. If you find him, call the police, eh? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I'm on it and it works out pretty well as long as you make sure to CANCEL out those monthly thingies they send you.
What I did was order 4 off the top (which came to $25, I think), then immediately bought the 3 other ones as soon as the first booklet came in (since there are dozens that I need), paid about $90 for those three, and then CANCEL immediately.
The way I see it, I get 7 DVDs for about $115, or about $16/DVD (Canadian prices, of course). I guess that's around US$11/DVD.
None too shabby.

It was 6 years ago. I haven't heard a word. But in my defence... A fuck it... I don't have a defence... I just hated them.

Hey Jo!!! Wanna go one step better? I devised this little plan myself and it works like a charm. You know how they include those "get a free movie if you enroll a friend things"? Well, enroll your "friend" (John Doe) who just happens to live at your address before you cancel a membership.
So...
You get 4 "free".
You Buy 3 more.
You get 1 free for enrolling your "friend"
You cancel.
Your "friend" gets 4 "free".
He buys 3 more...
you get the idea. It gets you one more free movie out of every membership as long as you keep enrolling.
You can alos join the Video Library and get the "first order" for a buck. Then cancel and don't buy anymore. I got "Pretty Woman" for a buck + shipping by joining the Julia Roberts video library, then quittign after the first shipment (no minimum number to buy) http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

I dislike Columbia House but they are pretty easily ripped off like stefanb was demonstrating.
