hey schmoes!
i just woundering if you guys are the same. i am a very opinionative person. even when it comes to songs. for example, if i hate a band, i would never listen to any of their songs EVER. even if they are the best song out there, i still wont listen.
or if i have a favorite song, then i heard a song that is twice as good, i wont addimit to myself that the song is better and continue to like the first song better. i dont know why but i feel loyal to it or something. maybe im just crazy, or are you guys sometimes SONG BIAS?

yep...
song bias, movie bias, music bias...I hear ya. Fact is you connect with somthing or not. and when you do connect, you are drawn to that thing no matter what. Im a huge Black Crowes fan and I dont care if there last two albums were shite because even if they didnt reach the same hole in my soul, I still like them better than most because I am a fan. Same goes with the Halloween or Jason series, or PT Anderson, or the Boston Bruins. We see things differently because we all connect with things differently.
On the other side we hate things as well. I cant tell you what this White Stripe facination is. They are some NO talent people yet they got lucky enough to make some nice $$$ and people out there connect with them. I think they are mindless crap but thats just me. Others dont think so and thats cool because its all about personal taste. But I know that the next song I hear from them will be shite. Call it bias, call it whatever, its all about a connection between you and that situation.
Music wise I hate alot of bands and they will never impress me with anything they do.

I call myself an official song biaser but i'm usually pretty wishy washy about it in my old age. For the longest time I've been anti beatles. Just couldn't stand them but as of late I've been enjoying bits and pieces of the White album. Another example is I hate Coldplay and swore off their music but lately I have kind of "accepted" their music. I wouldn't buy the cd but I don't turn it off the radio like i used too. I'm such a Judas :). At least I still reach for the ol tuning knob whenever I hear the Eagles or Everclear *shudder*

I've been very bias in the past, but as my tastes have developed, I've opened myself to new possibilities, and realize I'm better for it. For a long time I did not care for any Radiohead, but once I heard a few of their songs and began to dig their style, they rapidly became one of my favorite bands.
I still dislike a lot of music on principle (Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears, Beyonce Knowles...etc.), but if Avril were ever to release an excellent excellent tune, I'd be one of the first to grudgingly admit it.
I'd like to think of myself as open minded about music, especially as of late.

I am sometimes biased; however, whenever I hear one of my idols sing praises for the band/artist I'm supposed to dislike, I always try to make time to give them another chance. Proper authority means a lot to me.
As a general rule, I stick to what's right for me. I'm a white middle class male. I'm supposed to like metal. It was decided by the higher powers without asking my consent. Period. This way I can avoid unfounded biases--I just pretend I don't know anything else.

If it sounds groovy...I'll begrudgingly admit it.
I pretty much *refuse* to listen to songs by any the following (and believe me, I have tried to appreciate their tuneful goodness)...
Pink Floyd
Stereophonics
Bon Jovi
Fleetwood Mac
Coldplay
Norah Jones
Wings
Sting
...and more.

having hated radiohead for years and years, i was developing a really bias against them
but the new single is pretty listenable. and it really hurts me to say that...
and strangely, much as i try and hate them, i cant stop singing the last two Good Charlotte singles...i guess i will end up relenting and just buying the album lol!!!

i am terribly biased when it comes to music certain artists and groups will never do any right in my eyes;
sting/the police
phil collins
bon jovi
bryan adams
limp bizkit
one true voice
will smith
they are all doomed in my eyes, but i have learned to appreciated certain artists that i had written off, elton john is the perfect example i used to really detest his music, but i have to admit songs like" your song" and "i guess thats why they call it the blues "have really started to grow on me,so maybe all is not lost for phil collins after all:eek:
