Good for them, I say. But who the hell is her husband?

Brooke Shields Delivers

Baby makes three for Brooke Shields and hubby Chris Henchy.

The 37-year-old thesp, who posed preggers for the cover of Vogue's April issue, gave birth to a girl at a New York City hospital Thursday morning. It's a first child for the former Suddenly Susan star and Henchy, a former writer-producer for ABC's Spin City.

No other details were released.

The good news comes just three weeks after the loss of Brooke's father, Frank Shields, who passed away in Palm Beach, Florida, after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 61.

Shields, who has previously been linked to Michael Bolton, Liam Neeson and John F. Kennedy Jr., started dating Henchy in 1999, just months after her split from hubby number one, Andre Agassi. In 2000, the TV types were engaged during a vacation south of the border.

As befits a Tinseltown couple, Shields and Henchy tied the knot with not one but two ceremonies in California and Florida, the first civil, the second Catholic, in 2001. The newly minted marrieds reportedly struggled for several months to conceive before the regimen of endless sex paid off.

Shields is said to be embarking on a self-imposed maternity leave from her three-decade career to be a stay-at-home mom.

It'll be a well-deserved break for Shields, who found fame at age 13, starring in the whorehouse drama Pretty Baby. Just three years later she cemented her place in pop culture's pantheon when she declared nothing came between her and her Calvins.

Since then, she has found sitcom success with NBC's single-gal comedy Suddenly Susan, which ran from 1996 to 1999. She also spent time on Broadway as Sally Bowles in Cabaret. Most recently, she wrapped filming Rent a Husband with Il Postino star Maria Grazia Cucinotta.

While Shields spends time bonding with baby, Henchy is headed back to work as the scribe of ABC's new Notting Hill-esque romantic comedy I'm with Her, based on his real-life marriage to his superstar wife. Gilmore Girls dad David Sutcliffe stars as a high school teacher who falls in love with a movie star, played by Meet the Parents' Teri Polo.
