View Full Version : CNN: The Most Trusted Name In News- Yeah Right!

This is my rant about CNN. I have so many negative things to say about that channel, I don't know where to begin. First, there's American Morning. You've got them in a somber mood talking about a suicide bombing in the Middle East, then in a happy mood talking about how nice it is in New York. Second, they are incrediblely biased. They make a big deal out of anything happening, whether it's the "color-coded" terror alert system. I remember when Bush went to the naval cruise ship in a jet, and they acted like he flew the whole damn thing to the ship. Yeah, for five seconds to say the least:rolleyes:. Third, I hate how they mispronounce the names of foreign countries, such as "Iraq" and "Qatar". And fourth, I hate how they make Mr.Bush look like the hero in every situation, while making those opposed to his actions look like the bad guys in all of this. In final summary, I think CNN has now become a joke of a channel. The only highlights of CNN in my opinion are Larry King Live and Crossfire.

I've heard that CNN is reasonable reliable and the Fox News is a total brainwashing propaganda channel. Is that true?
At least there is still BBC... Althought I don't know how reliable it is nowadays. Thank god the local media here in Finland is generally rather unbiased, at least if it's related to mainstream USA media.

And believe me, not all the "bombs" news in Middle East. They give hours and hours of coverage when one side is attacking and being "hurt" and sometimes totally ignore massacres (and I'm not exaggerating here) happening while we're seeing them LIVE on local channels.
Very biased and not trust-worthy.

I gave up on these clowns when Connie Chung joined their team (she's left since) and started doing "fluff" pieces.
Also, am I the only one who thinks Larry King has lost total credibility?
One day he's interviewing Anna Nicole Smith and the next Colin Powell. The worst part is Anna Nicole Smith gets the harder questions....
Thumbs down on the recently softer Larry King!
Larry King is a tool. CNN is a joke. Incredibly biased and stupid. I'd rather watch Fox News, it's less horrible.

Give up on CNN. Instead, get your news from a reliable source like the New York Times! Uh, nevermind.

All major networks have pretty shitty news coverage. They're all biased. I know someone who I think said it perfectly: Fox news is an oxymoron. People always complain about the liberal media. But on tv, it seems to me like it's all pretty conservative. The only liberal news show I can think of is the Daily Show, and that's a comedy show. Where is the so-called "liberal media". But I've never seen BBC news, so I don't know anything about that.

IMO, Cnn is liberally biased and Fox news is conservatively biased. I am a conservative so I prefer Fox news but before Fox there was no one on TV that adequately represented my point of view. I was pretty frustrated. I'm glad both exist so no one needs to be frustrated anymore. I agree that all news is biased- it's the nature of the beast, I guess.
I'd rather just go online for my news fix.

The new CNN scares the crap out of me! They overload it with so much info, it's like my brain will explode if I try to hard to take anything in. Words and words, everywhere, all over the screen! Oy, I have a headache now!

I agree. There are about 10 news tickers on the screen at any given time, all talking about different things. WE CAN'T WATCH ALL OF THOSE AT THE SAME TIME, DAMMIT! They should have one channel for each of those stupid tickers and only show the reporters talking about stuff on CNN.

I agree that CNN is overcrowded. I get headaches trying to watch the over-fast scroll at the bottom AND ten journalists babbling, at the same time. Argh.

I'm bumping this, because I think I know the reason why Americans are boycotting Canadian beef and not going to Canada because of SARS, and this topic is directly related:
It's the media.
It's those biased news channels like CNN who make things seem much worse than they are right now. They draw Americans into believing that you should "prepare for the worst" or some kind of crap like that. CNN and other news channels give many people and places a bad name, including Canada. I feel like writing tens of thousands of complaint letters to those news channels, but I think writing this rant is much better than doing that.

Tom, yes, CNN isn't 100% accurate, but no news channel is. A large part of journalism is political. Many of the Asian and European news channels falsely slanted the news against America during the recent war. Unfortunately news across the world is slanted to make the view they want to look better. CNN is one of the better ones.

To be honest CNN may have had a better reputation in the past but it was never the most reliable source of news in the world very well knowen yes but ultimately trustworthy hmmmmmm........

What?! Those bastards! It's like I'm eating my mad cow diseased steak for dinner and taking a stroll around a SARS infested city. People are keeling over left, right, and center. Fuckin' CNN. I think they actually reported a SARS outbreak in Canada a month later when the war in Iraq shit dried up.
