MCDORMAND IS POT-SMOKING MAG'S NEW COVER GIRL
Oscar winner Frances McDormand signed up to become the latest pro-marijuana cover girl because she wants people to loosen up about the drug.
The "Fargo" star sports a marijuana leaf T-shirt for the cover of drug-culture magazine High Times' new issue and admits she's "a recreational pot smoker" in an interview inside, but she doesn't see how such an admission will cost her roles.
The 45-year-old actress admits she started smoking pot when she was 17 and has kept away from marijuana politics until now because lighting up a joint isn't "a constant" in her life.
But she admits the time is right for her to express her opinions after seeing the good pot has done for some of her pals.
She says, "I have friends who need to use it. Why should they have to look too hard for the thing that makes them better."

So is murder, but we don't seem to be doing much to stop that, either...
Whatever happen to Life, Libeirty and the Pursuit of Happiness? If you want to smoke a funny cigarette every once in a while, why should anyone care? Unless you're somehow deliberately endangering the life of another human being, I really don't see what the big deal is.
And I'm not surprised she uses a mind-altering substance... she is married to a Coen brother after all...

In some places it's illegal to have sex before marriage. In some places it's illegal for married couples to have oral sex together.
Does this mean that the people who broke those laws are wrong, or are the LAWS THEMSELVES wrong?
Scientific researches from W.H.O, USA goverment based facilities, and countless of independent organisations have shown that generally cannabis does less damage to human mind and body than alcohol or cigarettes.
I don't do cannabis myself because I belong to a small group of people who get muscle shaking out of it. Doesn't feel very nice.
But saying that something can't be done just because it's illegal is silly. Laws are often flawed. That's why they are being constantly changed.
I'm not necessarily saying that marihuana should be legalized, but there isn't any reason to keep illegal either. Keeping marihuana illegal is pretty much the same thing as keepin booze illegal in the 30's. That didn't work, and the marihuana politics aren't working either.

I'm with her on the opinion that people should loosen up on the drug. In fact, it should be legalized. It'll make the world a better place.

Agreed, and the billions of dollars the U.S government is investing (wasting) into the "war on marijuana" could be used on something of importance. They could just as well legalize it, and the government could even profit from it by taking a tax percentage or something...

I dont really care whether they legalize it. I've been smoking for years and will continue puffing for years to come. I dont need the law to tell me what to do.
ps
I think Frances Mcdormand is one of the coolest actresses around. I'll take her anyday over those stick-thin uptight movie-godesses-in-their-own-minds like Nicole Kidman, Meg Ryan, Renee Zelweger etc.

I've never heard a compelling argument why it shouldn't be legalized. Hemp, at the very least, most certainly should be legal to grow in America. The only reason it (and marijuana, its cousin) isn't was because of pushes from the paper/lumber industry when they realized hemp paper was much cheaper and faster to make.
BTW, in order to get a marijuana-like high off of hemp, you'd have to smoke a telephone pole sized stick of it. I'd imagine someone is trying it anyways.

Legalize the shit, that way the prisons don't get filled with pot heads and we don't end up letting out the real criminals because we have to make room for the millions of pot users in the country.
What has a pothead done that was so bad, besides raiding the pantry?
Jesus, you can do cocaine and still become president why can't we smoke POT?!!
Hell we all do a lesser form of uppers everyday: Diet pills, coffee, soda, chocolate, Red Bull. We're all taking stuff to keep us moving, but God forbid we do something that chills us out.
Dave Chappelle said it best when told pot leads to other things "Yeah, the munchies."
Go Francie.
And on a nother note, and I KNOW we've all been wanting to say it, but does vtdave ever comment in other threads without using the words "stupid" next to "bitch" and "whore"? I'm just curious, cause I wanna know if I'm missing out on anything.

Jaw-dropping.
As for the legalisation of marijuana.. here's a good (http://www.thoughtcrime.org/drugs.html) article on it. I agree with most of that.
