I'm sure this comment could upset people or maybe some could totally agree but what are your thoughts on a statement that NIN is this generation's Pink Floyd....thoughts? I'm not saying NIN are a Floyd ripoff or that they're better but their sound and textures are eerily familiar to me. They seem to have the sonic capability much like Floyd does, where you hear so much everytime you listen to a song again and again ya know? Hmm let jus wanted to see if anyone agrees or feels like punching me in the face for making the comment...drop some ideas.

I think you could probably make a case to back up that statement.
I would say, that musically, NIN is much more complex than most of the other music out there these days, which I believe they have in common with Pink Floyd. Unfortunately I dont know enough about the seventies music scene to know exactly how Pink Floyd's place in it could be compared to NIN's place in todays music scene.
Of course NIN was much more prominent about 7 years ago. I havent heard anything from Reznor since that last double disc that came out a couple of years back.
I am a big Pink Floyd fan and I was in my younger days a huge NIN fan. Though I have moved on from my NIN listening days, I still respect the music and look back fondly on those days (especially the three shows I was able to attend). So therefore, killswitch, I have absolutely no problem with your claim!

I can see where you are coming from with this argument. Both bands experimented with background sounds to make huge sonic soundscapes. Industrial music definetly owes alot to it's progressive music forefathers so NIN could definetly be viewed as a darker step nephew to Pink Floyds music.
Comparing NIN to Pink Floyd??? God gawd!!
How can you even begin to compare songs like "Downward Spiral" to "Another Brick In The Wall"?? Personally I see nothing but contrasts between these two groups.

I was never comparing songs, I was simply comparing in the sound or music that they produce. There is so much going on in their songs that I found it similar. It's just never simple music, you can always find something really interesting in it almost every time. But like I said, maybe it's just me.

I must say that NIN is one of my favorite bands. Personally, I think the whole electronic music/ industrial thing is much more different than the Pink Floyd thing.
I actually like NIN much better

I Love Pink Floyd, but I agree that Nine Inch Nails are better.
