PAULA REVEALS HER NECK PAIN HELL

TV talent show "American Idol" has helped bring judge Paula Abdul back from a painful hell that left her virtually crippled for six years.
The pop star-turned-TV host ruptured discs in her neck and spent days at a time trying to cope with excruciating pain as it spread around her body.

She says, "The pain was so aggressive that it takes your breath away. It makes your teeth start chattering because it's so uncomfortable.

"They could give me pain pills that would put a 300 pound man out, and there were no answers.

"It was bone on bone on bone and it was causing me to have partial paralysis. I was losing all ability to feel down my right side and it then started radiating through my lower back and into my hip."

But the unexpected opportunity to judge "American Idol" gave Abdul the strength she needed to beat her painful condition.

She explains, "I went in and out of surgeries and then I just went, 'Please let this work because I'm going to take a job called 'American Idol' and I deserve this job.'"

I actually feel for her knowing exactly what she's going through from firsthand experience. The partial paralysis isn't as bad as the mindnumbing hot pain, that drops you to your knees all the way from your shoulderblade to your neck and fingertips or the depression that comes with it. It's been hell for me but I can only imagine how it would be for someone who's made thier career dancing.

People don't realize that her career as a dancer is basically over, once you opt for surgery it usually becomes a temporary solution, when one disc ruptures it usually turns into a slow domino effect requiring surgery after surgery throughout the years. My cousin has had 3 surgeries so far, I've opted to avoid surgery until the pain becomes totally unbarable eventhough I was told one more major shock to my neck/back would probably put me in a wheelchair.

This said, Paula has been a cheerleader, dancer, choreographer and top 10 vocalist so she pretty much has everything needed to judge an American Idol. She's right when she says she deserves it IMO.

Well I guess this is retribution for all the pain she inflicted on music listeners back in the day.

Rather insensitive of you. She'll get better I hope. She seems nice.

Paula thinks everything is wonderful.
