I know that some people think that a movie deserves better then a 10/10. Myself, I haven't given one. For that, a movie would have to be perfect in every single friggin' way.

So, list your 11(or higher)/10(s) here......

No movie to me is perfect. That would impossible. But a few movies that I wont hesitate in giving a 10/10 would be Pulp Fiction, Vanilla Sky, and maybe, Goodfellas and The Godfather.

Casablanca and The Godfather used to be higher than 10/10, but I figure I shouldn't go overboard so now they are just 10/10's. I give out 10/10's to plenty of films, some are high 10/10's and some are low 10/10's.

The only film I give higher than 10/10 is....

CITIZEN KANE (10000/10)!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Pulp Fiction-(11/10)

If I can watch a movie over and over again and never get sick of it then it's a 11/10 in my book.

(Last year I watched Remember the Titans every Friday and Saturday Night. I kept track of watching it a total of 111 times last year and I still never get sick of it. It was my first and only DVD last year)

Sugar Magnolia

Never have, 10/10 is as high as it gets with me. If I were to give an 11, though, it would be the Holy Two. :)

Godfather is the only thing close. That's the movie that comes closest to perfection. It isn't my favorite movie though, but my favorites often have little to do with my ratings, which is strange.

Best written dialogue ever, if you ask me...

'It's about time the piano realizes it did not write the concerto!'

"Bill's thiry two. He looks thiry two. He looked it five years ago, he'll look it 20 years from now. I hate men."

and the most famous line spoken by the queen of all actresses, Bette Davis..

"Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy night."

I love it, I love it....Here's another great exchange-

"Your guests are beginning to wonder when they may view the body."

"Tell them we're not done w/ the embalming."

If a movie gets a grade over 10 then it implies that it is perfect and even though i love my top ten movies to bits just coz they all get clean 10s doesnt mean i love them less than any of you who give 11s or 15s or 1000s.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PERFECT MOVIE!!!!!!!

we have to remember that, as there is no perfect thing anywhere found in the world.
Even my most deartest film, Pulp Ficiton, has minute flaws which do not bother at all but they are flaws none the less.

Of course, but, that doesn't mean that we can't declare a movie perfect in our eyes. I'm perfectly aware "Say Anything...." has flaws, but I love it so much that I find it to be perfect.

I don't give 11/10s, because the concept goes above my understanding, but if I did, my entire top 10 would get them.

1. American Beauty
2. Moulin Rouge
3. The Godfather Parts I & II
4. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
5. Annie Hall
6. L.A. Confidential
7. Pulp Fiction
8. Say Anything…
9. Lord of the Rings
10. Almost Famous

hmm , I have mixed feelings about this. true, on a 10/10 scale..........your top score should not exceed 10.

HOWEVER........I have seen many beautiful women who would classify as a 10....then every so often one comes along that just has that little something extra so you gotta give them a little better grade

I guess if you increased the number to say 100/100 gradually your top top top movies would slightly outrank your top and top top picks.....eventually the bigger number grading scale would show how one movie is just slightly better in your opinion..

edgeofhell
05-23-2003, 01:05 PM
but I guess its always possible for you to give 101/100 in that case too............

DaMovieMan

to me:

10/10 is exactly the same as 1000000/10.

Makes no difference.

my highest rated...

Fight Club
Pulp Fiction
Citizen Kane
A Clockwork Orange
The Godfather
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Taxi Driver
Goodfellas
Memento

Although, for me, a perfect movie would include:

Pirates
Ninjas
A talking pie
a killer robot driving instuctor
cyborgs
zombies
violence
genetically-engineered nazi dinosaurs who want to take over the world.

Everyone's going to think I'm nuts, but everyone has different tastes:

Eight Legged Freaks

Yes, I absolutely love this movie. I saw it twice in theaters last year(even though I wanted to see it more) and I've watched it numerous times on DVD.

I'll list more movies later, but please nobody hurt me since this is my favorite movie...

I would never give a movie more than 9 or 9.9 out of ten but if I did it would be to:

1) hannibal
2) shawshank redemption
3) memento

Hannibal because I think Anthony Hopkins is brilliant and I love his acting.

Shawshank because it is so well written and the ending leaves you feeling great and Morgan Freeman is cool.

Memento because it is so intricately laced and precise and has lovely little subtle moments of flashbacks which are beautiful and is so well written and i loooove carrie-anne moss.

later alligators,

It's extremely illogical, in my view, to give a movie higher than a 10. Not because no movie can be that good, but because when you're rating on a scale of 10, you just can't give higher than a 10. Makes very little sense to me, but whatever...
