I dunno whats the big deal, its not like she had anything illegal on her right?!?

BRITNEY CAUGHT SMOKING - AGAIN
Britney Spears has sparked a new controversy about her smoking habit -- after being caught puffing away on TV.
The pop superstar attempted to hide her cigarette when she realized she was being filmed as she left a New York club Wednesday night, but fans couldn't miss what she was holding in her hands.

Spears' publicists have refused to comment about the incident, which aired on news shows overnight.

whatever will happen next...

i cant really see that this is much worth making a fuss about personally...

I know this is SO stupid. The same controversy is happening with Nicole Kidman when she smoked at Cannes in some press thing for Dogville.

***puffing away on my own cigarette***

Fuck, what a bad influence.

Leave her alone.

Wait...Nicole Kidman *and* Britney Spears smoke? What? They're their own person, and shouldn't have to be good examples for the entire goddamn world?

Madness I tell you

That is pretty hypocritical of her to be she's smoking and detesting the act.

I hate how people worry that every kid will start smoking just because their idols do. John Belushi died of a cocaine overdose, did you hear any news stories about folks OD'ing on cocaine because he did?

She may smoke, but I could overlook that while fucking her brains out.

Well, even though I think the controversy is utter bullshit, I do care. I mean I'm always bummed when beautiful women like Ms. Spears and Ms. Kidman do something so ugly. Smoking is one of the most ugliest things a person can do.

I completely agree, but there's this one little thing called Nicotine Addiction. I should know, I'm a smoker, and there are times when you just gotta light up. I think Britney made the biggest mistake by leaving a venue with a lit dog-end in her hand...she must have known there might be photographers outside.

I'm not really bothered if anybody I admire in the public eye likes to smoke. If I wasn't a coffin-nail imbiber myself, it still wouldn't inspire me to take up the habit. Of course, we could all chip in and buy the poor girl a box of Nicorette patches...

Something tells me that she doesn't need our money for the nicotine patch ;)

i wish everyone would just drop this "oh no, we caught so and so smoking again"-kids are going to do what they are going to do, and plus it is the parents responsibility to tell them that smoking, sex, drugs are bad for you, it isn't television or music that is responsible for our kids, they didn't give birth to them

I think the funny thing is that she's trying to hide it and she got caught. I mean no one "catches" Colin Farrell smoking because he's not trying to hide anything.

So you smoke, Brit. Big deal, just don't be a hypocrite and say you hate smoking and then try to hide your smoking. - not too bright.

Smoking is gross (unless its wacky tobaccy).
But thankfully the general populace has seen the light and is now working to phase the smokers out of all public places. If you wanna smoke your nasty cigarettes, soon you will only be able to do so in the comforts of your own home (and at a cost of $10 a pack).

And Britney only looks dumb because she lies about smoking.

I'm surprised no one has commented on the fact that she is not just a pop singer, she's a dancer too and dancing and smoking don't necessarily work well together. I have an aquaintance who was on the Alvin Ailey dance troop who said that they monitor how much you smoke because it severely cuts down on your wind. Hopefully she's not smoking too much...it could affect her career.

Not that I am really a follower of her career... But she is awful pretty...

I personally hate smoking but hell, it's a free country, let her do what she wants. If she wants to destroy her lungs and eventually her career, so be it.

Yea I know. First she says how she will not have sex until she is married, and then she nails Justin Timberlake. Now she speaks out against smoking and is caught smoking herself.

Britney, honey, NOBODY gives a shit what you do. Just stop saying things all the time that prove what a hypocritical jackass you are.

The girl needs a Mute button, I swear.

All I have to say is:

If a kid smokes because Britney Spears does, that's just proof of natural selection and they should be glad they haven't been hit by a truck while crossing the street.

That is all.

I believe the original post was about : Britney Spears caught smoking and should it be a big deal.

Personally I think your above opinion was unecessary and pretty rude for smokers. Im sure you do many things I would consider nasty, trust me!!

I don't think it was rude (maybe a little crude) at all, i thought it was right on target, and yes, this is about britney...SMOKING in a PUBLIC place....i think that's pretty much what he was talking about...

besides, cigarettes are fine...up until someone dies from SECONDHAND smoke...hey, i'm all for people getting to (mostly) do whatever they want... up to the point that it hurts everyone else, and causes health problems for other people who do not smoke...

oh, and he never actually called smokers anything, since when was he "rude" to smokers? he did call cigarettes nasty (note: not smokers...cigarettes does not equal smokers), but that's his opinion on the actual object, not the smoker...

Relieving stress and sex are 2 different things. Smoking relieves stress. So do drugs. So does sex. They are ALL bad for you.

Unless you're like 75 with a 35 year old girlfriend, then it might happen, but I have my doubts...

i dont smoke, and i dont do drugs (alcohol and caffeine excepted...too much caffeine, very little alcohol these days...) but damn, i can not see how sex is bad for me. quite the opposite. not only is it great exercise (and unlike a lot of exercise, its actually fun too) but damn, its good for the soul too ;)

my theory in life- if you have the rock n roll and the sex, why are you even thinking about drugs? ;)

note this post is lighthearted and will not stand up well to critical analysis. in other words, dont pick me apart, cause i am just being a happy skippy little bunny wabbit...:D:D:D:D

I apologize if I offended you.

I wasnt trying to imply that Smokers are bad people, my beef is with the physical act of smoking.

I have very strong opinions on this topic; and I have very good reasons for having very strong opinions on this topic.

And yes, I do many nasty things! And you are more than welcome to call me on it. :p

I'm not saying that sex is wrong (because it certainly is not...it's a natural part of life), but actually, it CAN kill you. Have you ever heard of AIDS?

Well, that's not sex's fault, it's yours if you don't practise safe sex.

Lots of research has shown sex is good for you in more ways than just relieving stress :D They've even shown, I kid you not, that having sex twice a week or more bumps up your immune system and helps cut cancer risks, among other thigs :D

ladra1matica

ok, sex can be good and bad. sex can be not so good when you're a 13 year old girl/boy and have no clue what you're getting into but think you know cause it's all over the media. so it's the parent's job to talk to them about it and answer any questions they might have (and have mustered up the courage to ask them). that way they can practice safe sex...hopefully when they're older. aids, std's, sti's, pregnancy are all issues people have to deal with when sex is involved. there's also the type of intercourse that's completely unwanted. date rape, rape in general. that's not so good. and sometimes, sex just complicates things. it's not just rose petals on the bed and silk sheets you know? but it's true, sex can be very good. a good sex life is wonderful and healthy. also, it's been scientifically proven that seamen make women happier. lol. it's true! they're less depressed compared to those women that use condoms when having sex.

Jim H
06-20-2003, 03:20 PM
Sex is especially good for men... Men who have at least 100 orgasms a year live a couple years longer and have reduced risks of heart attacks and other problems. Point in fact, even staring at breasts for 10 minutes a day is believed to extend men's life a bit. Remember that girls.

Don't forget though, moderate use of some drugs is known to help people out in a variety of ways as well.

they're less depressed compared to those women that use condoms when having sex.

Well, I remember reading about that, and it is also possible that happier women simply don't use condoms, or unhappy women insist on them. It wasn't really conclusive at this state.

BTW, who funds that kind of research?
