View Full Version : Commercials in theaters...
*The following tirade is LACED with profanity...
What the fuck! Seriously, is there a petition I can sign or a politician I can bludgeon or something else I can do about this? I fucking go to see Bruce Almighty at Regal Cinemas, the prevalent theater chain in my city, and what the bloody fuck I'm greeted with like 8 commercials before previews begin. The movie doesn't start for fucking 15 minutes after the alleged start time. For what? So I can see a platinum Visa commercial? A Sprite commercial? You think seeing that dude climb the mountain on the big screen is really going to make me want to join the Marines? Who's behind this, who's the guilty party? Who shall be slain for this vile transgression? I escape to theaters to get away from this type of trash, for God's sake, for the love of all that is sacred, what the fuck yo!?
Alright, I'm done ranting... um, yeah, the preceding is rated R for profanity and griping. If this topic's been done, sorry...
I won't even go into detail on my beefs with lame comedy/drama movie trailers or previews for flix that are coming out in a fucking WEEK already...

Seriously, it was like 8 commercials! I literally exclaimed "What the fuck!" when the Sprite commercial with Kobe Bryant came on, I thought I'd been sucked into some bizarre twilight zone ep or something. It was insane. Thanks for the website, and away I go...

I don't know about you, but I'd rather sit through five minutes of commericals than see the ticket prices increase.

Hey, a woman sued a theater over the commercials before the show. I'm thinking about doing the same.
It almost made me late for something important.

She won't win the case. If the judge has any sense he won't even let the trial begin. What's next? Suing a city because they're traffic lights take to long to change?

I recently saw a Mother Goose and Grimm cartoon where Mother Goose and and two pets are sick of the comercials on the t.v. so they decide to go to the movies and the next panel shows them glaring at the movie screen which is showing a Pepsi ad.

Sadly, you're probably right. Maybe I should go and sue my local doughnut shop for selling fattening foods. ;)

the UCI near where i live has at least 20 minutes of commercials and trailers before the films starts, iv got into the habit of getting there 5 or 10 minutes after the films meant to start so by the time i get in there, its nearly started

UUGGHH!!! I totally agree with this rant!! Bravo!!
I went to see Bruce Almighty last night and there was a fuckin CoverGirl make-up ad. My wife had to talk me down cause i was so pissed. I don't know why, but "regular commercials" really make me want to slap the manager with a dead halibut.
I don't mind the still ads before the show time, or the concession stand ads, or the "inconsiderate cell phone man" or even the fandango ads, but regular commericals come show time just make me want to throttle somebody.

I'd pay $5 more to NOT see commercials. Fuckers.

They aggravate me at Wehrenberg. At AMC Theatres, the commercials actually start BEFORE the scheduled showtime, there are around 7 or 8 minutes of startin 10 minutes before showtime, then a little intro then the trailer start. I have no problem at all with that, I consider it no different then those still frame ads - albeit a little louder and more obnoxious.
At wehrenberg though, they add literally 10 minutes to the showtime which pisses me off.

I sure wouldn't. I don't get what losing a few minutes to commercials is.

It's the principle. They have a captive audience, and force feed their commercials down our throat. And the lady who's suing is right. If the movie starts any later than advertised, it should be considered false advertisement.

What are you talking about? The ticket prices went up even after they implemented the commercials.
We're getting screwed twice.

Where I live they haven't gone up for about 2 years. So since the commercials started showing up they prices in my area have not increased.

Final word on this stuff. The movie theatre comercials suck when they're regular comercials , I bet when people go to see To Fast To Furious there will be like 15 minutes of regular comercials the new the movie the more of those damn comercials

I have to disagree with that...at least where I live. General Cinema has been taken over by AMC theater...whats the FIRST thing that happened? The ticket prices got boosted by .50c AND the commercial ads INCREASED by at least 3 more! I would have had no problem with ticket increase, but it certainly didnt go to keeping the ads at minimum.

I agree with that. What I'm saying is that I don't have a problem with commercials as long as ticket prices stay the same. This has been the case for my local theatre so I have no beef with the theatre having commercials.

Dude - bring your watch the next time you go to the theatre. Find out if the commercial ads start before the actual showtime. I'm curious if all AMC theatres start them before showtime, cause if they do I don't really care.

though they sometimes fuk up during the trailers or the movie itself  I am grateful that the theatre up the street from my house shows NO Commercials other than the FANDANGO spot

When I went to see Matrix Reloaded, I did just that. The movie was scheduled to start at 12 noon. The commercial ads set it back to a start time of 12:10. Now, if someone goes to a show and gets there about 10 -15 minutes before the movie, then I dont see the need to complain...go past the start time, and now I just PAID to be a captive audience member.
..and I forgot to mention my previous post..I asked the guy who tears the ticket stubs that since they raised the prices to .50 cents..as well raising the concession prices (where I am at) did he get an increase in his pay? He looked around and then told me, No, those cheap fucking bastards didnt give none us anything..and we were EXPECTING SOMETHING due to everything being increased.

i go to the movies sometimes to get away from television, among other things, having it follow me in there is kind of annoying.i use to like watching the previews but now the commercials have ruined that experience. the previews dont seem as cool when played along with commercials we've seen many times on television.

I must've jinxed myself. Yesterday I found out my local theatre raised the ticket prices 25 cents. :o
