Thanks for the welcome Vlady! Hopefully we can help fill up the dvd clinic with some good reviews and keep everyone up to date on the newest dvd's out there. I've posted at joblo's under another name before, but will go by Professor Steve from now on.

I have to say I friggin love dvd's. I never collected tapes, but now I have a pretty decent dvd collection. I'm definitely a horror, sci-fi, action/adventure type guy, but pretty much love all genres as long as the movie is good.

I see that the Full Metal Jacket boxed set is coming out Nov. 6th, but I'd rather have the Kubrick box set. I already had the Shining and FMJ but will probably sell those and get the box set soon.

Just so you know where I'm coming from, some of my favorite movies in no particular order:

Planet of the Apes
The Shawshank Redemption
The Thing
Fight Club
all Raiders, Star Wars, and Back to the Futures
I also like kids movies, Mary Poppins, Toy Story, and even Popeye are great movies to me.

As for dvd's:
Fight Club
Matrix
Blade
The Thing
The Abyss
T2
Die Hard Trilogy
and pretty much any dvd with a director/cast commentary. I'll buy a dvd just for that...

Plus, I love searching for hidden gems I haven't seen yet, like Southern Comfort, Lost Horizons, and Ghost Dog.

Anyway, hopefully I can join in on some great discussions here.
