"I like shitbags, they pay better."

Those are the words spoken by the character of Jericho Cane (Arnold Schwarznegger), a washed up, alchoholic, and suicidal cop. End of Days has great action, and a good premise, but the story ultimantely falls short, and the plot is full of holes. Gabriel Byrne in my opinion was fantastic as Satan himself, he delivered his lines with sheer darkness and intensity. Arnold was O.K, but his performance was off throughout the movie (the scene near the end of the movie where Jericho prays is almost laughable). There is also some bad CGI, and an untinentionally funny scene where Arnold and his partner discover the name of the girl they are looking for. But I enjoyed large portions of this movie, and enjoyed it for its action. I'd recommend it to any fan of Schwarzenegger, but not the average movie fan.

Final Verdict: 6/10

This flick was O.K. Boring at times but still had good action. I do think that it went a tad overboard in some parts too. Ahnuld has had 3 duds in a row....

End Of Days - 5/10
The 6th Day - 6/10
Collateral Damage - 4/10

So let's hope that T3 kicks ass!

Agreed it was at times boring but the acting was very good, Byrne was excellent, the effects were nice and it had a nice downbeat ending

I seemed to be the only one who loved this movie. It's action-packed, suspenseful, AND creepy as hell. What more could you ask for?

You're not alone, Justin.

I give End of Days a 7/10, since the idea behind it got me so intrigued that I saw it twice at the theater. Yes, it's Arnold versus Satan, played by a creepy-as-all-hell Gabriel Byrne (but I still think Al Pacino does one better), with hottie Robin Tunney in the mix, and a whole lotta chasing, gunfire, fistfighting, and brutality going on.

Cool stuff. By the way, I can ask for more.

ONE LAST CONAN MOVIE!

End of Days

**Some minor spoilers throughout**

Over the course of his career Arnold Schwarzenegger has played a barbarian, a robot that wants to destroy the world, a robot that wants to save the world, a fireman, a cop and several elite ex-military types. He's fought an alien trophy hunter, a russian drug dealer, arab terrorists, and even a kindergarten class. In all of his movies he easily kills hundreds of enemies. So, of course the next logical step would be to have Arnold fight against an enemy so evil that he could not be defeated. Yes, my friends Arnold has decided he's tired of killing measly extras. He's looking to go bigger and what better way than to go after the Prince of Darkness himself, the Devil. Yep, you heard it right, the devil. Not that the devil would be any match for Arnold. I mean, c'mon this is the guy that took out an entire army in Commando.

Arnold's Jericho Cane, a burnt out, depressed, alcoholic ex-cop who's been contemplating suicide ever since his wife and daughter were killed during a robbery attempt. He now spends his time drinking pizza and pepto bismal shakes and running a security agency that protects rich people. It just so happens that his latest client happens to be the devil. The devil's in town to find himself a woman. You see, a long time ago the course of the world was mapped out. The prophecies say that twenty-one years prior to the Millenium (that's the year 2000) a baby girl, Robin Tunney would be born with the sacred mark. She would be the chosen one. A man was also chosen to be the embodiment of Satan on the year 2000. The embodiment of Satan is, of course, Gabriel Byrne. Byrne has to have sex with the chosen girl before the clock strikes midnight on the eve of the Millenium. As Jericho quips: "This is eastern standard time, right"? On the way Kevin Pollack helps out Arnie and tries to provide some comic relief. Ok, you got all that?

So, after a botched assassination by a priest on the Devil whom is being protected by the security agency, Arnie gets his ass in gear and decides to kick some unholy ass and save the world.

You know, this might be the most complicated plot ever for an Arnold movie, but you know what? That doesn't matter because this movie kicks all kinds of ass. I loved it and think it's one of Arnold's best. I love the dark theme and imagery. I think it's real cool that Arnold would even take a role like this as it's like nothing he's ever done before. Playing a depressed man also gives Arnold a chance to showcase the acting chops that most people say he doesn't have. He was very believable in this. His scenes with Gabriel Byrne are right on. I loved the temptation scene in Arnie's apartment where the devil promises to give him everything he wants if he gives up the girl. Very biblical.

Gabriel Byrne is also a perfect as Satan. He's extremely evil and takes no shit from anybody. He's also quite the ladies man. Not two minutes after inhabiting his human form he's feeling up some lady at a restaurant and then blowing the whole place up as he walks away.

Robin Tunney is ok as Christine York, the chosen one. It's interesting to see how fragile her state of mind is because of the hallucinations she suffers from. See, her mom died right after she was born and she was tadopted by the nice lady who helped smear snake's blood on her lips as a child. Nice, huh? Rod Steiger is cool as the crusty ol' priest who knows that the devil is among us and knows how to stop him. I loved when he was trying to convince Arnie that he needed faith in order to defeat Satan. Arnie's reply: "If I had to chose between faith and my Glock. I'd chose my Glock". Rounding out the cast is Kevin Pollack who's really just there to try and make a few jokes in an otherwise very serious and dark movie.

There's some very disturbing imagery in this movie that I wasn't expecting. I really liked all the religious symbolism that was put into this movie. Arnold being put on the cross and also what's done to the priest in the hospital. Very cool stuff. I especially liked the ending. At first I didn't like it as it was surprises and not what I'm used to with Arnold movies but after seeing the movie several times the ending is perfect. There's no better way to have ended the movie.

The action scenes are cool although there's not as many as is usual for a Schwarzenegger film. You won't see Arnie fighting off an army but you will see him beating up some devil worshippers and doing his best to blow away the devil.

I know this didn't make much money and was widely panned by the critics but I really liked it. I think it was a step in the right direction for Arnold. Although still an action movie there's also some very horrific elements to be found in this little gem. If you like apocolyptic movies or are a big fan of Arnold I'd suggest giving this one a try.

Final Score - 8.5/10

I had mixed thoughts on the film when I first saw it. It had some good moments, but it did fall short. What the problem I think was it tried to be TOO much of a film. The story was flying all over the place and it led to an "ok" climax. It was nice to see Arnold back and action, and truth be told, he wasn't half bad.

End of Days wasn't a movie I enjoyed that much. It had moments, but like I said before, it tired TOO hard.

This was an OK film. I enjoyed the style and colours used, but it was a bit lame I felt. I never really got into the movie as much I could've. The ending was definitely surprising though, and the apolcaypse theme was well-handled and creepy in a way.

Retarted movie

I mean, 666 turned around is 999, add a 1 and then you have the year when Satan will come to earth

Not to mention that the millennium didn't start from the year 2000...
