i purchased the following dvd player
http://www.220-electronics.com/dvd/international.htm

it was shipped really fast considering i used a money order, however, the moment i thought i had everything ready to go is when i noticed a major problem... the image is distorted. not distroted like - having the channel set wrong but the pictyre itself looks faded like a image file that was saved at less quality. i dunno the reason behind this.

i have the rca cables plugged in to the dvd player-tv set. the strange thing is - the dvd player came with an s-video cable also and in the instructions it shows that the tv set should come with a s-video outlet? i have NEVER seen a tv with an s-video outlet.

any ideas what may cause the image to become so yucky? how can i use the s-video cable with out an outlet on the tv?

Well it can be really simple

Is the dvd your playing PAL??? does your Tv have a Pal decoder? does your DVd player have a PAL decoder? thats normaly the probleme.

what it does ( playing PAL on a NTSC tv) is 1 there could be nor colours...2 the image does kinda like on the outerlimits goes up and down or loops up or down.

Is that the probleme you have?

Cause if it is you need a converter.

Well from what i noticed from the link your player does have a Decoder so.... the only thing i can think of is the Decoder is crap thats why its flew or that you noticed pixalation.

Had that problemewith one of my players once.

Solution to that probleme buy a 3 standar TV.

it was not a pal dvd but my player plays all dvds (pal or ntsc) anyhow. the link has some info regarding the player. it even states - will play on any tv. they should of corrected that and said it will only play on tv with such a such outputs.

i'm thinking this s-video cable will fix the problem but i dunno?
the image does not loop up and down. it plays fine just the color setting it furdged up... like it's sloppy looking. the colors r mainly the problem. audio is fine - it's just the video

Then its cleary the transcoder that sucks. Might solve your probleme to buy a ext transcoder that you plug to the dvd then to your tv.

I assume youre running the player directly into the TV, and not going through a VCR, or anything else....
Are you sure its the player and not the TV? If you do an a/b comparison with this player and another player, does the other players picture look OK?
You wont be able to use the S-video cable unless your TV has an S-video jack, and not all of them do. You must have an old, and/or small TV. If your TV had an S-video jack, that is always going to be a slight improvement over using the standard RCA type video cable.
Unfortunatley it sounds like you might have a shitty player.... at least it came with free tech support.... for whatever thats worth. Good luck

i'm running the player directly into the tv, yep.
i tried the player both of my tv sets my the image is the same.
i bought an adapter today for 35 bux for s-video. it made no improvement so i'll ahve to take that back now also.

i don't know what will happen. shipping it back out and such is a f'n hassle.
