PLOT:
A cocky computer hacker is recruited into the CIA by head honcho, Walter Burke. After graduating The Farm, his mission is to track down a sexy double agent.
THOUGHTS:
(slight spoilers)
Colin Farrell shines as James Clayton and his performance further proves he is going to be around for a long time. Al Pacino is also good as the veteran CIA operative although he is not as GREAT as he usually is. It's alright because the role does not require him to be great since the movie's star is Farrell, he's the one that needs to be great and we all know Pacino can act. Besides, he has played these types of roles before so he mailed in his performance but everyone knows, even a mailed in performance from Pacino is still awesome.
Bridget Moynahan is good as the love interest and possible mole. She holds her own against Colin Farrell and looks great during the sex scene. She isn't Meryl Streep though, she does what the script calls for.
The set design was very cool, The Farm looked great and made you believe this is what an actual CIA training camp looks like.
The writing was sometimes predictable and sometimes clever. The scene in the bar where Clayton's mission was to pick up a girl was a very clever moment and the part at the end when Pacino has his speech his also neat.
The only complaints I have are the first half of the movie was a bit slow and that could have been avoided if they trimmed 5-10 minutes from the movie. The story is nothing new and has been done before, but Colin Farrell's charismatic performance, the sharp direction and clever ending made it feel new and fresh. Also, some of the twists and turns were a bit predictable but other then that it was a fun and interesting thriller.
7/10
