Anyone hear about the e-mail Mariah Carey sent to a lady who had a blind daughter and told her that her kids dream would come true if she could met Carey? The lady never expected a reply, but she actually got one. (tho not what she expected.) Carey replied something to the effect of, ' With all due respect, I have my own problems, blah, blah, and if you ever e-mail me again, I will consider it harassment, blah, blah, and finally, 'have a nice day'.

Who does this bitch think she is? How dare her be so rude to a lady who's child is/was a fan! She could have said, I am indeed sorry, but my schedule will not permit it, but here is a signed autograph and tee shirt,' etc., etc.

I heard it as a news bit on 105.3 KYNG, the talk that rocks Texas, and also on NBC 5 Dallas/Fort Worth. It was the middle/latter part of last week when I heard it.

It really floored me, as I honestly cannot remember when I heard of a 'celebrity' being so callous and mean spirited to a fan. She is known to leave strange, rambling messages on her site, so it didn't suprise me at all. Sounds like she needs to change her meds! bahahaha

I can not stand Mariah Carey, but have to say I did read about this, (dont ask me where, cause I forget) and APPARENTLY.

This girl e.mails Mariah as her daughter wants to meet her and she is blind etc etc....... They get an e.mail back saying something along the lines of "I have my own problems to deal with".

Apparently the e.mail was a hoax and not from Mariah as it was not her official website it was sent to. Mariah hears about this from I don't know who and anyhows she got in touch with the family, appologised for any stress or upset this caused and invited the girl to her show and to meet her personally.

As I say I dont actually like Mariah but what I read about this she actually didn't send this e.mail and has tried to help this girl.

I don't know what the truth is, im just wondering if anyone else read the same as me?:rolleyes:

In all honesty I can't see her sending that sort of e.mail to a fan knowing it would end up public knowledge. Though stranger things have happened.:D

Cyber-Squatter Responsible For Mean-Spirited Note

It turns out the recipient of a mean-spirited e-mail supposedly from Mariah Carey's Web site was the victim of a cyber-squatter -- but that hasn't stopped the singer from reaching out to one of her fans.

According to Minneapolis-St. Paul television KMSP, the pop diva called 10-year-old Michelle Katz at her home Thursday to rectify a situation that neither she or her Web site had any involvement in.

The station reported Wednesday that the grandmother of Katz wrote Carey on what she thought was her official Web site with a special request, since the singer recently canceled a concert at St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center.

As it turns out, reported KMSP, the grandmother, Dee Hofland, was off by one letter when she was typing Carey's Web address, and ended up on a cyber-squatter's site with a Carey imposter.

According to KMSP, Hofland wrote an e-mail to Carey because Katz, who is blind, fell in love with the singer's music two years ago -- and even has learned to mimic Carey's music on the piano.

"I know it is not very probable but you have no idea what it would mean to this child if she could meet Mariah even for 5 minutes. You would make one girl's dreams come true," Hofland wrote, reported KMSP.

But instead of a simple "no" to her request, Hofland got a scathing e-mail in return. KMSP reprinted the response on its Web site, which said: "Miss with all due respect, I have my own problems. I have no time to accommodate everyone else's. My sister is suffering HIV right now. Is anyone worried about my problems? Some people can be so damn selfish. Next time you email me with any requests, you will be reported. Have a great day!" m.c.

The station said Wednesday that a representative for Carey's record label, Island Records would try to track down what happened. On Thursday the label vowed to continue the investigation.

"The kind of person that would take advantage like this, in this particular fashion -- it's just absolutely disgusting and absolutely horrible," Carey rep Peter LaFrumento told KMSP. "And whoever is behind it -- (and) we will certainly find out who that is -- will have to answer for it."

As for the phone call from Carey, Michelle Katz's father Bill told KMSP, "She (Carey) asked her what kind of songs she liked, and one or two of her biggest are 'Hero' and 'Butterfly. She told me that she was sorry for the whole thing, and I pretty much said that 'it wasn't you who wrote the e-mail.'"

According to the station, Carey has promised Michelle Katz one more thing: when she reschedules her concert in St. Paul, she'll get to visit her backstage.

As I say im not a fan of the lady herself but she was an innocent party in all this and I think is more than making up for something she really didn't need to get involved with. She could have shrugged her shoulders and just carried on, with no repercussions on herself, but no she did something worthwhile to this child and really that is all that counts.

I was working at a radiostation back then, and was in charge of 'arranging her wishes'. I will not go into full detail about that, but one of her demands was that the whole radiostation (and it's a big building! Other stations and offices are situated there!) would be smoke-free. So no smoking please.

Sure, I can understand that, even being a smoker myself. Plus she's a singer, it's somewhat plausible and all.. So I replied;'No problem, we have a designated room for smokers to light up, the ONLY room on this floor where people are allowed to smoke, and I don't think she'll be in there, right?'

No way what so ever. Even the smoking room had to be shut down! And not even for the fifteen minutes that she spent in the building, nooooo, for 48 hours! The whole building had to be not smoken in for fuckin' 48 hours! I had to actually garantee that this would happen, otherwise Mariac Carey would not be coming over.

But.. we did it. She's a mega superstar. And we all hated her for it. It was a collective decision to hate this woman. I mean, this is not a smoking free country. Just as we respect the non-smoking country's when we visit them, she should have done the same. And there would have been no hastle anyway. I was honest: the only room where we were allowed to smoke was way in the back, not even near the studio (bad for the equipment), you don't smell or notice anything.

She came on, left after fifteen minutes, and in the show after, I contributed listing her ridiculous demands. A lot of calls came in..!

well i'm a nonsmoker so i may be biased, but while what she did may have pissed off a whole bunch of people that day, i actually agree with her decision.

I mean, i can see where she's coming from, she doesn't want to get secondhand smoke. And anyway, my point of view is, i don't care if other people smoke, just as long as i don't have to suffer through it because then, it's affecting my health. First of all Mariah didn't go to a mental hospital and she didn't go psycho last year. She had a physical breakdown due to the fact that for a couple of years she had been getting little to no sleep and that she didn't eat properly.

Yes Glitter was a bomb but there were a lot of people involved in it and she didn't have as much control on it as some of you might think. Anyway she moved on so why can't you guys do the same thing ?

As for the smoke thing, I dunno but one thing I'm sure is that her voice is very fragile and it's what's the most important for her and she probably just wanted to make sure that she would be in no way in contact with it. It's not like she demanded to be given ham at 3am in the morning by two travestites lol

Anyway you guys can think what you want but this woman doesn't deserve what some of you are telling her. She's the #1 selling female singer in history and she's just behind Elvis and The Beatles in terms of the most number of #1 singles ( 15 ). I won't deny the girl's got an amazing voice (something like a 5- or 7-octave range), but I don't particularly like her music and she does make an astounding number of unusual demands on the places she visits. I think the Smoking Gun website has a copy of her tour rider you can look at.

Why should I be respectful to anyone who openly and absurdly disrespects someone they've never met and know nothing about? But fine, I'll tone it down. It just got me annoyed, people that talk and talk about a subject they know nothing about. it's not fair. No I'm not related. definitely NOT the type of attention she's getting now! at least you can deal with being dumped without the whole world knowing and talking about you. THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS. it's insane. yes, she signed up for it and knew what she was getting into. but it gets to a point where it's too much. first of all, your "hurting their feelings" thing alters the perception of what i just said. study psychology, you'll understand. disappointing is hard on everyone, especially disappointing those that make you happiest, bring you comfort when you're feeling awful. She knows that if she leaves and is never found again. Millions of fans won't be able to look up to her anymore, be inspired anymore, have someone to idolize. even if that were the case, that she's a media loving bitch, everyone wants fame. everyone wants to be loved. it's natural and normal. besides, she's got the benefits you're talking about. you're talking about money and glamour and flair and fame. whatever, she's got that. but she's still unhappy, wonder why? because the irritating oppression has reached it's peak. it's the kind of job where your social life love life and every other aspect of you is not only connected with your work, it affects whether you succeed or fall. She doesn't want the attention she gets now. She shies away from the cameras, she gets mad enough to even openly tell the camera men to leave her the hell alone. But anyways, think about this. Mariah Carey in Grenada. A life of serene solitude. Do you really think she wants to be alone for the rest of her life?

i am not so sure. i personally dont want to be famous. i am an intensly private person at the best of times and quite frankly, the thought of their being a new tabloid story every time i took a shit, would be too much. its too much of a generalisation to say that everyone wants fame. i dont want the drawbacks, and if thats means giving up the positive, then so be it. i dont mind. i am quite content to live out my life and never make the news.

when i said everyone wants to be loved, it was the adulated part, the complete admiration. the type that comes with fame. not the actual love love. anyway, good that you don't want to be famous. you're part of a small percentage. and there definitely is bad publicity. britney knows all about that. because she took 6 months off so now everyone's off her case and not talking about her anymore. she's better for it too. and i completely disagree. i think she'd much rather have people not talk about her at all than have people talk sh*t about her. i don't know about you but i'd rather walk down the halls and pass people talking about a football game as opposed to sh*t about me.

The rest of the stuff is mostly things good for her throat and her voice. Once again this is not really exaggerated.

well, i don't really believe rumors anyways, it is all tabloid shit. Mariah is a very powerful female and i can understand why many hate her and make others hate her. I personally can't hate someone i don't know. What i know is she has one of the best voices i've ever heard and she is very pretty and that she presents herself to the public as a very nice person.
