View Full Version : Were there ever plans for "Gremlins: The Series"?

A while ago (maybe last year), I stumbled upon a webpage describing a couple episodes of "Gremlins: The Series".
I forgot about it till tonight when it popped back into my head.

I searched for it tonight, but [OF COURSE] now I can`t find it!

It was definetly from the "Gremlins" movies, cause the page had the "Gremlins" movie logo and a picture of Stripe.
It was not clear whether this series was supposed to be live-action or animation.

So my question is this: were there ever palns for a "Gremlins" TV series, and it never happened? Does anyone know? Cause I sure as hell don`t remember any "Gremlins" TV series! And I was an avid "Gremlins" fanatic when I was little.

If anyone wants to try and find the webpage, by all means be my guest, I`m frusterated that I can`t prove the existence of this webpage.

Does ANYONE know ANYTHING about this?

(Edited because I found better info)

http://www.toonarific.com/g/gizmoandgremlins.html

Only a pilot was ever made, and never aired or went to video. It was animated and called "Gizmo and the Gremlins". The toonarific page doesn't really have any info beyond that, it's just proof it existed for you. :)

oh...my....god..

Dude, THANK YOU! I searched for hours (well, maybe an hour) for anything about it.
Well I guess this answers my question about whether or not this was animated.

So did this ever air on TV, or just get shopped-around to networks?
Has anyone ever seen it?

Seems to have only ever been seen by network executives, who must have not liked what they saw. If any copies of it exist they're probably in a studio archive somewhere, or possibly pirated tapes exist (but from the lack of info on it, it might have been lost forever :( )

Well thanks for the info anyway dude!
That`s one less thing that`ll be nagging at the back of my head!

I think that Joe Dante described the future of Gremlins at the end of his commentary on the Gremlins DVD: The sequel was a year too late. After that, almost everyone lost the spark for Gremlins and that's probably why the sequel did poorly (not that it sucked, far from it) and probably why this series never saw the light of day. Oh well. Here's to you Joe! I'll be waitin' for that Howling Special Edition DVD in August.

Huh? I take it this was a deleted scene?
Was Billy`s dad actually in the scene, or did he mail it to Billy or something?
