View Full Version : DVDs to go OOP soon!?

Recently I went out and bought the damn Fight Club 2-Disc OOP set, and it got me to thinking about other DVDs that might go OOP pretty soon. I wouldn't be suprised to see the Memento SE do this seeing how it has a single disc version out, and it would be something like what they did with Fight Club, seeing how they still have that single disc version out. I wouldn't be suprised to see the 4-Disc version of Fellowship of The Ring go OOP also.

Are there anymore that you can think of?

DVD's aren't going OOP. With some titles the studios just want them to have a single disc'. They're right though, all those extras aren't really needed.

Gladiator is getting ready to be released in a single disk.

I thought that GLadiator Superbit was Region 2 (im probably wrong) But that whole fight club incident was just fox begging for more money. Cheap bastards.

the special edition of fight club is great. i cant believe it went oop...

anyway...
if a dvd has a lot of extras i am more likely to buy it than a dvd without many... whether i watch them or not I look for them. & honestly, I usually do watch them.

I have all of those; Fight Club SE, Memento SE, LOTR SE, and Gladiator. If they went OOP I'd actually be glad. Then it's really a collectors item.

I'm the total opposite. I couldn't care less about the extras. I rarely watch them. I buy a DVD for the film only.

DVDs go in & out of print all the time. If theres a DVD you want to buy and its currently out of print, dont give up hope so fast. Especially if its a popular blockbuster type of a movie, it wont stay out of print forever.

Why not just get it on VHS? You'll still get the film, and you'll save some money.

You seem pretty convinced of the uselessness of special features; have you ever bothered listening to/watching any of them? There are some which are just filler, and not worth the time, but a lot of them are pretty interesting.

To answer your first question, the picture and sound quality of DVD's runs circles around VHS tapes and they look a lot cooler too boot. ;) There is no way DVD's and VHS tapes should be used in the same sentence.

Yes, I have watched some extras and I like them more than I let on, it's just a huge pet peeve of mine to see people say they buy DVD's based on extras more than how much they like the film itself.

If you're going to pick up LOTR: FOTR EE this week is a very good week to do it. Target has it on sale for $19.99

Yea, I do think that the Memento 2-disc set will go OOP soon, since it is a LIMITED edition.

Zeppelin's right. Memento is a limited edition so once they're sold, they're sold. The regular edition that was out before the LE will probably still be in print, though.

As for other movies, Spiderman's probably gonna get chopped back to a single disk soon enough. Columbia did that with Final Fantasy, and the extras on Spiderman's second disk don't seem to exciting.

That's all I can add for now.

Out Of Print= OOP

It means that they don't make them anymore.
