If you haven't see Te Matrix Reladeed don't read this!
I went to go see The Matrix Reloded, man there was a prson yelling out in every section of the movie. Like in the middle of a section someone yelled out "THey ot keymaster!" loud as hell and when they showed the council thing someone shouted "Look its Mr. T" I just wated to know if stuff like this happened when you saw movies

Fortunately, never happened to me. I don't know about the US, but over here, if anyone is disrespectful enough to do that, he'll get angry looks the first time, and a serious whoop-ass beating the second time round.

During Attack of the Clones, when it first showed the image of the soon to be built Death Star, some dumb kid yelled out "My God, The Death Star!" It got a good laugh.

I thought this thread was titled "Stupid Shoot Outs in Movies", and was kinda confused about the off-topic rant at first.
But yeah, I hate when they shout-out in movies, too. Like this one guy next to me in Star Trek: Nemesis. Every damned five minutes he'd say "FIRE IT UP!"
After about a half hour, I just looked straight at him in the dark... next thing you know, he moves to the other end of the aisle! I only heard him yell a couple more times in the movie, but another one of my friends at that end made mention of a stupid guy yelling "FIRE IT UP!!" over and over during the flick hahaha!

its one thing to be excited but that would have probably annoyed me, too.
one time i went to see a movie and there was a drunk guy who kept yelling at the screen, slowly one by one about ten people went out to complain but they never got him to leave so we just had to suffer through it.

YEP.. I know what you are talking about..
During X2, someone (a little kid I may add), shouted...
"Hey, Mystique looks like my mother!'
When I went to see The Matrix: Reloaded everytime an action scene would start up some idiot and his (perhaps) drunk buddies would scream "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor!!!" for really long sustained bursts.

Man, the worst that ever happens in my cinema are the sods at the back who throw popcorn at other people. I mean, come on dudes. Whats the point in going to the movie if your gonna make childish pranks like that eh?
But thank god people shouting out during the movie has ever happened to me, although some freak shouted out something during the previews. Now that doesn't really mind me that much but it was still annoying. Glad they shuted up when the movie shouted, seems like some people still have respect for the movie. (Except for the popcorn throwing).
Gotta love these rant boards, you can really get alot of grief off of your chest ;)

All kidding aside, when I went to see
Die Another Day in the theater, some old people decided to say out loud,
Hey there's Madonna, when she showed up. It's like, wow, thanks for that, because I really thought it might have been my mother.
Some people just need to keep the most complete idiotic stuff to themselves, specially when it's so
painfully obvious who the hell the person is on screen.

I really love it when I'm in a packed theater at a sold out, big movie and everyone's abuzz with excitement, watching the latest movie trailers and someone makes a "funny" comment and then the entire front half of the theater erupts in laughs in almost nervous unison, almost relieved that some blessed soul has relaxed them and eased their tension from the anticipation buildup. Then it is even more hilarious when, five minutes later, some lame ass makes another very witty, very audible comment, and no one laughs at all.

I hate it when people yell out stuff during movies...
I do it sometimes, but it's with good reason. When I went and saw a sneak preview of Hollywood Homicide a week ago, some guys phone rang three times....I yelled out "Turn off your fucking phone!" Needless to say, the phone didn't ring again...
I've also been known to to yell out "RRRRENTAL!" after REALLY bad trailers.....I only do it when I'm out with a lot of friends though.
The last time I did that, was at Die Another Day....and it was after the first trailer for the new Charlie's Angels movie..

I think its pretty funny whenever someone does that kind of stuff. Me and mine buddies do it all the time. Usually only during the previews when there showing "the new summer smash hit." Or if it is a really slow part in a movie that if you miss it, it won't ruin the movie. I don't care if no one else thinks its funny, we think its hilarious. Then, if someone else starts to imitate us, trying to make us feel stupid, it just stokes the fire. God, I haven't been to a movie in a while, I forgot how much fun that is.

Yeah, I like audience heckles, if it's a fun type of movie.
It would suck during Schindler's List, but it isn't like someone yelling, "He learned more than Kung-Fu!" After Neo and Trinty's scene, then that's not really going to take me out of the experience.
As long as you have a good heckle. In my town, people usually call-out people who keep cracking bad jokes.
"Shut up, with that dry ass shit."
We keep order.

Sometimes it is funny and sometimes it is innapropriate. An example of this is when we did the shaft song during Star Wars 2. I found that appropriate because the whole theater was kids from our school that decided to take 8th Grade Waterpark Day off and go to the mall. Wow good times. heh

In Halloween H20 at the theatre during one scene with Jamie and Michael, and it shows the big man standing there looking around, some kid yells out " Want fries with that?" Believe it or not (with my usual non-tolerance level) everyone laughed, including me.

Something similar happened when I saw Matrix Reloaded. There was an annoying woman sitting in front of me. When Neo first appears, she yelled out "That looks like Keanu Reeves!" Halfway through the movie, her kid asked her politely to be quiet, to which she loudly replied "Oh, shut up!" Then when it says "To be continued" at the end, she said "Oh no they didn't!" I wanted to throw my frozen Coke at her, but it would have been a waste of a perfectly good drink.

When I just saw cabin fever a few weeks ago the theatre was in full out war. Some kids behind me kept talking about their life stories so I yelled shut the fuck up at them and they piped down. Now I'm getting comfy and enjoying the movie and some ladies cell phone goes off a few rows back. She answers it and starts laughing and talking. Another lady a few rowss back from her yells "leave you stupid bitch" then the girl on the cell screamed back something along the lines "Make me you cunt" and then both began screaming fuck you etc.. etc... all of a sudden the whole audience began telling both of them to stuff it. Finally it got to the scene with the razor and everyone quieted down and began to watch the movie again.

During a screening of Armageddon, the projector screwed up and the movie stopped during the credits. So some idiot yelled out "Armageddon was the shortest movie EVER!"
Needless to say he was gang beaten and analy violated when he got outside.

When we saw a midnight showing of Office Space, some stoned moron was making jokes behind me and thought he was being hilarous, I was so close to telling him to shut the fuck up but he piped down by himself. At the end of the movie i realized it was one of my friends sitting behind me, and she was with her 12 year old step brother who was drunk. That was depressing.
Some of my friends are kinda chatty and I felt bad but I actually once shushed them. But no one has really felt the need to be the theater wise-ass when ive been there, mostly just people whispering amoing themselves. Although during Scream 3, I was sitting next to this girl who kept making comments through out the movie but I didnt shush her cuz they were actually damn funny and the movie blew.
Once, my friend actually got a bug laugh from the whole 500 seat theater. We were seeing the re-release of Grease and everyone was dressed up, and when Stockard Channing threw her milk shake in her boyfriends face, my quiet friend just stood up and shouted "you go girl!" and the theater busted up. It doesnt seem that funny in retrospect but i guess ya had to be there.
Oh, a fave one-liner of mine from an audience member was some like 12 year old girl during Mullholland Drive just couldnt keep in her "what the fuck???" at the movies big twist. Again, I guess ya had to be there.

I've written about this before, but my buds and I had a blast during a matinee of Jason Goes to Hell. I don't remember a decade later what we blurted out that was so funny, but those around us were equally vocal. I mean, really - any snide, condescening quips were certainly welcome, right?

First post....yay..but while watching school of rock, some kids in the front row were throwing stuff at the screen, and when jack black was saying the band names he liked and the kids never heard of, the guys in the gfront were screaming "they suck rancid is better!"...it was really annoying, but they left after 30 minutes so that was cool.

Contrary to popular opinion it is NEVER okay to shout stupid comments during a movie. You may think you're the most hilarious person ever, but you're just a shiteater. When other members of the audience laugh it is because they are embarrassed and feel sorry for you, and secretly are hoping you die in a car wreck on the way home. Cinemas would be better if they had ushers with sniper rifles and anyone who wanted to make a claim for amateur comedy king got shot, right in the forehead, and died.

Last night at TCM, someone was on thier cell-phone during one of the more intense parts of the movie and some guy in the row behind me just yelled out 'GET OFF THE FUCKING PHONE'. Since it was a quiet, yet tense scene, everyone started laughing and the 'gangbanger' (he was part of a group of guys that all had bandana type things on, guess he thought he was tough) stood up and started looking around to see who said it, and then people started yelling at him to sit down and he and his 'bros' left and didnt come back. Those kind of shoutouts I dont mind, because in this case they did good. Its the stupid ones where people are like 'run bitch!' or 'dont go in there!' that piss me off because, its a fucking movie, no one in the movie can hear you. Its not like they'd turn on screen, look into the crowd and go 'thanks for the tip strange moviegoer!'

Hehe, totally agree. It's like I said on another thread - people only act like assholes in public domains (cinema), something to do with wanting to be the centre of attention I guess. How many of these dickheads do you think are screaming "Run! Don't do that!" when they're at home alone watching it on video? Exactly. I hate them.
I've had to make a few "shut the fuck up" shout outs before too, which I think generally went down quite well with the rest of the well-mannered audience. But apart from telling obnoxious assholes to shut up, there's no other reason to talk or shout and ruin the film for other people.

I'm truly greatful that in 20 years of going to movies only ONCE people have misbehaved in theatre. There were some drunk guys watching Another 48 hours when I saw it, but even they were not that bad.
Other than that I might only hear people whispering to each other during a movie, but if I *politely* ask them to stop, they have always understood. We don't have any "please close your mobile phones" text in front of movies. Yet it's very rare to hear a phone ringing, even if *everyone* in Finland has a mobile phone. If a phone rings, nobody is dumb enough to answer it. They just close the damn phone.
Finnish people tend to concentrate on the movie instead of themselves and their friends.

Man, I'm moving to Finland!! The last time you had assholes in the cinema was when you went and saw ANOTHER 48 FREAKING HOURS?? You are the luckiest son of a bitch I've ever heard of. Next thing you'll be saying that in Finland no one has ever spoilt a movie's twist ending before?

I must disagree. I have had some EXTREMELY bad experiences in finnish movie theaters in recent years. And the assholes have the NERVE to engage in a lengthy(an loud) conversations when the phone rings! And no-one has the guts to yell at the fuckers to turn off their phones. I guess other people are SO concentrated on the movie, that they don't notice the cell-phone-using mo-fos.

RE: I find this suprising. Granted, I only see about 15-20 movies in theatre year year. I would imagine that the it also depends on the type of movie one goes to see. Kiddie flicks probably have more annoying people in the audience.
I *always* polietely ask people to be quiet if they talk in the thetre. So far everyone has understood to do so. I think their reaction depends quite a lot on *how* I ask them to be quiet.
