The Digital Bits (http://www.thedigitalbits.com) reports that special editions of Robert Rodriguez's El Mariachi and Desperado are coming on August 26th.

No word on price, special features, or even cover art, but I wouldn't be surprised if Rodriguez commentary was part of the deal. Given that so much footage was cut from the end of Desperado, I'm praying mighty hard that we either get an unrated director's cut or at least some little glimpse of the deleted gunplay. As for El Mariachi (which I've never seen), perhaps we'll get both the original and the "polished" version.

Very cool, I hope they leave "Bedhead" on the Mariachi DVD.

I hope desperado contains the footage cut out, that cut gun fight must have been great.....(also i thought i recognised the crotch gun in from dusk till dawn somewhere)

I'll only get it if it has that deleted gun battle in the end of Desperado.

I love my double-sided dual commentaried double-feature DVD of El Mariachi and Desperado enough to not worry about a re-release of the same thing with just a better looking Main Menu, thank-you-very-much!

Sweet.

If I have left over cash, I'll get them.
