Hi. I was curious if this happened to anyobe else. We've all heard the usual stories. Jaws ma people afraid of the water including me and Psycho made people afraid of showers including me, but whats a horror film that unexpectedly made you afraid of something.

1. Candyman- Fot five days I couldn't look in the mirror. I ended up habing to put mysle f in weird postions rinsing my mouth out after brushong becuase I was certian if I looked in the morror I would see Candyman. I also couldn't say Candyman five times in the mirror.

2. The Changeling- Now this is going to sound really silly but after this film wheelchairs really scared me. The scene in the film in which the female lead is being chased by a wheelchair on fire always scred the beejus out of me. After that whenever I was around a wheelchair i always expected it to come to life. I kinow its silly.

*SPOILERS*

House of 1000 Corpses made me afraid of being buried alive. I seriously am scared to walk close to any sort of hole in the ground now.
Childs Play made me scared of dolls.
Arachnophobia gave me just that.
Jaws didnt make me scared of Sharks. It made me like them. I dont know what that means....
I saw The Gate when I was little and I still tuck my sheets under my feet before I go to bed because I was scared that something under my bed would grab my legs or something.
Everytime I see an alley, I think of NOES and it scares the bejesus out of me.
House on Haunted Hill made it so I flip out when anyone shakes their head too fast.
There are probably others that Im just not thinking of.

I'm not sure it counts, but I shall never go into the ocean deep enough for anything to swim underneath me. Stoopid sharks.

I think Jaws ruined the ocean for me too folks. Then again there's the other water animal phobia....but I believe that's about it.

Oh, and there is a little problem with the dark *blushing* After watching so many horror movies, or else my mind is completely morbid, I see really disturbing images when it's pitch black. Nothing I have seen on screen, worse.... :D

I'd say I'm more cautious around garbage disposals as well after Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes.

Its funny about three years ago some friends of mine tried to cure me of deep water phobia. I was 17 and we went to Mexico. We were on the beach and they had a raft and finally shamed to swim about twenty feet out. Doesn't sound like much but the beach dropped off fast. I was holding onto the side of the raft, thought I was doing fine until what was white and what looked to be a fin under me about five to ten feet.

Seriously I have never freaked out in my life like I did there. I swam twenty feet back in under 2 seconds. People on the beach thought I was having a meltdown and we never found out what it was. I can barely go in oceans now.

Could Be Worse- same here man.....Poltergeist 3 was one of my first horror films, that and Mirror Mirror both films about mirrors sending out evil reflections pretending to be you...I had nightmares for weeks about this old mirror in my house that was always black and I would wlak up to it and my reflection would jump out and drag me by my feet as it laughed an evil laugh that echoed and it would throw me in the mirror and I had to watch it from inside the mirror as it pretended to be me and played with my sister and rocked in a rocking chair with my great grandmother who died right after those nightmares so yeah.....Poltergeist 3 and Mirror Mirror....made me terrified of mirrors and even now I sometimes look in the mirror and keep looking at it watching my reflection.......*shivers* brrrrrrr

I was actually forced to watch A Nightmare on Elm Street by my dear big brother and loving father. I was only ten or so years old and it scared the crap out of me, I wouldn't go to sleep for like a week because I thought Freddy was gonna get me in my sleep.

Kinda Ironic once you think about it now, I now love the NOES movies and own all seven of them. Crazy stuff.

I guess mines would be:

NMOE: When I was a kid kept me awake many nights. Because I was too scared to go to sleep. I did dream of Freddy once him and I getting it on in the back seat of a car at my high school. And as if it couldn't get any weirder I was enjoying it. EWWWWW!

It: It gave me a brief fear of clowns.

Candyman: I have never really liked mirrors but this movies made it worse.

Creepshow: The one with the roaches only heightened my fear in them. I can't tell you how bad I hate those things. Especially those huge flying ones.

The scariest movie I've ever seen is Bio-Dome and it made me deathly afraid of all Pauly Shore movies.

Wait.. that's not true.

Now, don't laugh...

When I was very, very young I saw a movie called DOT AND THE KANGAROO. It was an animated movie about a little girl who meets a kangaroo and goes on an adventure.

There is a scene where they go into a cave. There are aboriginal cave-painting of stick men and stick animals. The paintings come to life and dance around and it scared the HELL out of me.

I'm still scared of caves and cave paintings. It gives me a chill to think about it. I was only about 3 - and I still feel the magnitude of my fear!

Chinton - I'm with you on THE CHANGELING. I don't think I've ever been so frightened by a movie before or since. It's a subtle and terrifying ghost story.

Every time I put my arm/hand out of the car window while driving, I always think back to the Michael Caine film The Hand. I was about six when I saw this film and I can still remember that scene.

I would have to agree with the poltergeist mirror thing. I couldnt change or anything in front of a mirror because I was afraid that someone could see me or would jump out.
As for clowns, it was a mix between Killer Clowns From Outerspace and my father who told me clowns were evil and killed people when I was 3. Thanks dad. Anyway, Killer Clowns also made me scared of giant cotten candy and shadow puppets. Im over the last two now, but you couldnt get me near either when I was a kid.
Dr. Giggles made me scared of doctors. I couldnt finish the entire movie when I was little because it scared me so bad. My brothers spent an entire year hiding under my bed giggling like Dr. Giggles until I screamed. Bastards....anyway, I finally rented the movie when I was @ 12 and realized how incredibly stupid the movie was and I couldnt believe I was ever scared of it. I own it now.
Im not exactly positive as to why I am scared of the ocean. It wasnt Jaws because like I previously stated, I like sharks. They are cute. I seem to be scared of the dumbest crap while I like things that most people are scared of like bats, rats, and sharks. Hmmmmm

Ah, horror, how do you scare me? Let me count the ways...

PSYCHO - Showers
POLTERGEIST - Lying in my bed in any position other than flat on my back (in case something comes from behind... so to speak :))
HOUSE - The cupboard under my stairs (in case that big thing from the cupboard in HOUSE comes out
RINGU - Always turn my TV to face the wall at night :( Not too proud of that one
FINAL DESTINATION - Am obsessed with wiping the floor at all times to prevent slippage
