...the words 'Anamorphic' or 'Enhanced for 16X9' are nowhere to be found on the case
...you found it in the $5.88 bin (Suicide Kings being the exception)
...it says 'Fullscreen'
...if the words 'Tom Green' are on the cover
...you've had it for 6 months and the plastic wrapper is still on it

When 'Interactive Menus' are stated on the box as a special feature. What in the hell is a non-interactive menu?

it has a snapper case.
it lists chapter stops and subtitles and interactive menus as special features.
it is in pan-and-scan.
it costs less than $10.
You know you've purchased a crappy DVD if...
The name of the film is different on the box than it is on the case.
I bought a DVD with the name
Kid With THE Golden Arm
I opened the case, and the disc said
Kid With A Golden Arm
Hmm....

All the features listed on the box are NOT on the actual DVD inside..... I got "Carnivore" out of the Wal-Mart $5.88 bin and on the back it has everything from director's commentary, a featurette and WIDESCREEN presentation listed... It was bare-bones (not even a trailer which was listed on the back as well) and it was FULL screen... I was so mad.

Not so. I bought the Animatrix, even though it had a snapper case cover. It's a great collection. It's Warner Bros that does that. Cheap bastards.

The snapper case design was created, and owned by, Warner Bros. (of which, I think, New Line is a subsidiary), so of course they'll gonna use it.

Isn't the Matrix in a snapper case? I didn't hear too many folks complain about that one.
Also, you know it's bad when "actor filmographies" is a special feature. And I hate that "Subtitle" special feature crap.

Never trust the $5.88 bin!
You also know you have a crappy DVD if it is made by Warner, bar Superman.

Snappers, snappers, snappers, the devil I tell ya.
You know you have a crappy DVD if...
It's in a snapper...
It's Pan & Sham/Scam or Fool Screen
There's NO FEATURES...
If it's in a crappy, flimsy, box, ala Panic Room.

If it has SARS or WEST NILE inside of the box. That would not be a fun day for me.

The words Police Academy are found as the title.
The most exciting special feature is....interactive menu or cast filmograhies.

Actually, some DVD's do not have menus period! Like MTV's Aeon Flux compliation disc, it just goes directly to the shorts and you can only skip through them with the chapter skip buttons. Very weird, I think it's from way back when DVD's were just on the upstart...

Actually, you know your DVD has no chapter selections (David Lynch apparently wants you to watch the film all te way through, but I still need chapter selctions....).

If it has SARS
Yeah, getting the flu for a couple weeks does kind of suck.
X-Nightcrawler

...it doesn't include the inside paper with the chapters. Only the disc when you open it.

The words The Fast and the Furious are on the cover. (trust me, I NEVER made that mistake)
Dubbed Verion appears ANYWHERE on the case/disk... fucking blastphemy!!!
And in conjunction with the above...
The words, "This movie has been formatted to fit your TV."...
... what a fucking WASTE to release Full Screen/Pan and SCAM, on DVD. That's what fucking video is for. There's nothing I hate more than people at video stores that bitch, "Oh you only have the widescreen DVD. I don't like that stuff." My answer is always, "Then rent the video." I'd rather shoot off on their heads, but people aren't worth it. My motto, "If you don't like WS/LTBX, then don't buy a fucking DVD player... ASS-FACE!!"

Th worst is when you buy a cheap ass dvd like I did in Walgreens put it in the player and it was a fucking low quality vcd
But if the snapper cases really bug everyone that much then why don't you just print out a high quality cover and put it in a case that you get free from the aol display in circuit city?

You know you got a bad DVD when you try to sell it on Ebay, but you notice someone else is already trying to sell it for $0.89...the auction is ending in less than an hour...and there are NO BIDS. (Such was the case with Adam Sandler's Going Overboard)
