MY THOUGHTS
SPOILERS

What a great movie. I loved it, and I don't know anyone who doesn't love it. The performances by Julia Roberts and Albert Finny are top notch, and the plot is great.

With no money, no job and no prospects on the horizon, Erin Brockovich (Roberts) is a woman in a tight spot. Following a car accident in which Erin is not at fault, she finds herself even worse off when her attorney fails to land her any kind of settlement. With nowhere else to turn, Erin pleads with her attorney Ed Masry (Albert Finney) to hire her at his law firm. It is there, while working, that Erin stumbles upon some medical records placed in real estate files. Confused, she begins to question the connection. She convinces Ed to allow her to investigate, where she discovers a cover-up involving contaminated water in a local community which is causing devastating illnesses among its residents.

Although the local citizens are initially leery of becoming involved, Erin's persistence and the personal interest she takes in their lives makes them listen. A kindred spirit, Erin is one of them, and her ability to connect with them on their level makes them comfortable, ultimately earning their trust. Helping her out is her next door neighbor George (Aaron Eckhart), a Harley Davidson biker whose friendship and support allows her the time to pursue the case. Going door to door, she signs up over 600 plaintiffs, and Erin and Ed, with the help of a major law firm, go on to receive the largest settlement ever paid in a direct-action lawsuit in U.S. history....$333 million. By triumphing over insurmountable odds, she is able to prove herself, and reinvent her life.

This movie goes right to the heart. The script made this movie what it was. Erin had the smartest mouth (I think) I have ever heard in film. I know I could never come up with...
Lady: I think we got of on the wrong foot here.
Erin: Thats all you got lady 2 wrong feet and fucking ugly shoes.

While you watch the movie, you really feel for her, and you want her to win. The woman who plays Donna Jenson, I think should have been nominated for best supporting actress, she had some of the most saddest scenes in the whole movie. The part where **spoilers** Erin was telling her about the cromium in the water, and the kids were in the pool, really got to me.

Basicly, if you like Drama, Julia Roberts, and true storys, Erin Brockovich is your movie!

RATING- 10/10

I agree it was a very good film, but i couldn't watch it many times, it just didn't grab me enough to make me want to watch it any time soon, and was very slow at times

I didn't like it.It was very slow and very boring at times. The fact that extortion came into play many times in the movie chapped my ass because it just didn't seem realistic. Especially whe Erin and Ed have shouting matches. Also, I thought that Aaron Eckharts character was out of place. Plus, what the hell was Erin Brockovichs actual title while working there. She wasn't a lawyer......I think she was some sort of investigator but hell she gets a huge ass office. Plus, if my calculations are correct...

SPOILERS

If Ed got 40% of the win then Ed got 132,000,000. He only gives 2,000,000 to Erin. WTF?

END SPOILERS

Overall it's a 4/10. It just didn't get me.

I really enjoyed Erin Brockovich!

It is not really orignal per se, but it is vibrant, well-executed, and entertained the hell outta me. Julia Roberts truly deserved her Oscar. A glowing performance with enough energy to light Las Vegas. Also, I must say, this is Soderbergh's strongest effort, behind Ocean's 11. Sorry, guys, I am not a huge Traffic fan, minus Cheadle and Guzman.

a completly by tghe numbers, politically correct melodrama that has no punch. Easily the worst film Soderburgh has been associated with.

This film has none of his usual flair and really falls flat in every scene. Its a film that is so predictable and dull I had to double check it was a Soderburgh film. Albert Finney and Aaron Eckhart are the one saving grace but even that is not enough to rescue the film from Julia Roberts scene chewing, one dimensional performance. The girl has zero pressence and hence emotes no sympathy and the whole way through I was praying for a twist that allowed her to be killed.

Never again will I watch this bland, sub par Soderburh effort- give me Schizopolis, The Underneath or The Limey anyday.
