What do you guys thinks of next weekends releases. Which ones will you see? What ones do you think will be good or bad? What are your opening grosses estimates.

Bubble Boy- I think this film will be horrible. How can we laugh for two hours with the only joke being some guy in a bubble in bouncing around the country. Plus it is very offensive.

The Curse Of The Jade Scorpion- This film looks great. Woody Allen is a genius. Dan Aykroyd,Charlize Theron, and Helen Hunt are all talented.

Ghosts Of Mars- This film could go either way. It could be a creepy FX filled action-packed ride. Or a forgetable unoriginal B horror film.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back- Great already! There is no way this film won't be funny as hell and be a classic comedy like "Animal House".

Summer Catch- A very dumb premise and horrible actors. Low budget and no FX. This is going to be a stinker.

I will se "The Curse Of The Jade Scorpion" for sure. I might check out a matinee of "Ghosts Of Mars". I will have already seen "Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back" on Saturday.

"Bubble Boy" will open with only 5 million. The trailers are not funny and all my buddies say it looks stupid.

"The Curse Of The Jade Scorpion"- I used to think 18 million but now I have not seen a single T.V. Spot for it. I am going to say 9 million but it will get more from additional screens and good word of mouth.

"Ghosts Of Mars"- This film will make at the most 19 million. Why, because science fiction has not had many good films in it this summer and many young adults and teens will se this to see if it stops the trend. Plus oder people will always flock to Carpenter.

"Summer Catch"- This film will make only 2.5 million. With "American Pie 2","Osmosis Jones","Bubble Boy","The Curse Of The Jade Scorpion","American Outlaws", and "Ghost Of Mars" in the marketplace. This bomb will be ignored.

Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back will be good, but the rest will suck.

I'm seeing Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back tomorrow night. I love Kevin Smith's movies so I can't wait. Plus I need something to laugh at since Rat Race was a complete dud.

I'm definetly going to see "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," and "Ghosts of Mars." The rest of the movies that you mentioned I'm most likely not going to see....

If J&SBSB opens in my town, I'll go see it. If not, I'll wait awhile until it goes to one of the cheaper theaters. I refuse to go to South Bend to see movies. Its the biggest city in a 30 mile radious of me but the prices there compared to here are just to fucking ridiculous. I paid $3 to see AP2, both times I went. I saw it twice for $6, in South Bend, it would of cost me $8 just to see it once.

I'm going to see "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" and Johnny C's "Ghost of Mars". Everything else looks like crap.

Bubble Boy looks HORRIBLE. It will bomb at the theaters. I can't believe it's even getting a theatrical release. Even straight to video would be too good for that movie. It just looks so unfunny. I might rent it on video though because I like Marley Shelton, but it looks so crappy. Oh my god why did she choose to be in such a horrible movie.
Yuck yuck yuck yuck and ugh, it looks so damn bad.

I want to see all the other movies opening next weekend though. The Curse Of The Jade Scorpion, Ghosts Of Mars, and Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back all look pretty good. I'm VERY excited for J&SBSB, I love Kevin Smith movies, my favorite is Chasing Amy. Anyway, even Summer Catch doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. Jessica Biel looks damn hot in the trailer, I'll probably see this movie, most likely on video but I'll still see it.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see how next weekends Box Office turns out. Out of all of them I think J&SBSB and Ghosts Of Mars will do the best at the box office.

Shocking news. Ebert and Roeper just reviewed Ghosts of Mars tonight and gave it two thumbs up! I was surprised. I thought for sure the movie was going to tank with critics, now I'm not that sure. Anyway, Bubble Boy is the only one that looks horrible. Summer Catch doesn't look great either, but it looks ok. Ghosts of Mars I didn't think looked so good, but if Ebert and Roeper liked it, I think it might actually be good. But out of the five movies coming out next weekend it is the two comedies that appear the most promising. The Curse of the Jade Scorpion looks really funny from the trailers. By far, the one I am looking most forward to is Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. But before I see that I have to see Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy. Dogma is the only one I have seen and based on what I have read about the movie, I will enjoy the movie more if I see the others first.
Estimated grades:
Bubble Boy F
Summer Catch B-
Ghosts of Mars B-
The Curse of the Jade Scorpion B+
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back A-

What's up with all the fucking "GAY" movies coming out?? "Punks" (limited release) is about a gay guy trying to jock a straight guy with a girlfriend. "All Over the Guy" is about more randomn gay-ness. We all know the the gay controversey surrounding "J&SBSB." And "Bubble Boy" seems pretty fucking gay too. Let's all celebrate this up-coming "fudge packer" weekend! Who the fuck planned this line-up of releases - Barney Frank?

First, the theater counts. SUMMER CATCH (2200), JAY AND SILENT BOB (2000), GHOST OF MARS (2000), BUBBLE BOY (1600), CURSE OF THE JADE SCORPION (850).

Will Freddie Prinze, Jr. solidify his status as box-office poison? How well will Kevin Smith do with mainstream audiences in his widest release yet? MARS ATTACKS, MISSION TO MARS, RED PLANET, GHOST OF MARS. Get the picture? Just who is the target audience for BUBBLE BOY? The better reviews for Woody Allen, the more exclusive his audience. Will SCORPION's mediocre buzz propel Allen to his biggest opening?

Here are my predictions:
SUMMER CATCH - $5.5 mil.
JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKES BACK - $10 mil.
GHOST OF MARS - $8 mil.
BUBBLE BOY - $4.5 mil.
CURSE OF THE JADE SCORPION - $3.5 mil.

Here's my predictions:
Bubble Boy-this could dominate the box office. A lot of little kids want to see this movie.

Summer Catch-puke! The preview doesn't even look good or funny or romantic! Is that Ryan Dunn I mean Dune supposed to be funny????????

Ghosts of Mars-I'll see that. Might not do that well since if you ask a teen if they saw Halloween, they'll say:"yeah,I saw H20." Carpenter might not do that well.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back-I'm definitely going to see that! But trust me,it might not do that well.

So here's my predictions:

1.Bubble Boy
2.American Pie 2
3.J&SBSB

And here's Ebert's choosings of what I think:
Bubble Boy-thumbs up
GOM-thumbs up(no duh)
Summer Catch-thumbs up(*shudders*)
Curse of the Jade Scorpion-thumbs up
J&SBSB-thumbs down

Actually, Ebert and Reoper reviewed Curse of the Jade Scorpion last night and he gave it thumbs down. There is no way he could give thumbs to Bubble Boy. That looks WAY TOO STUPID! Summer Catch I'm sure will get the typical mediocre reviews. As for Box office, I'm not sure. American Pie 2 could remain at the top or Jay and Silent Bob I think actually has a decent chance of taking it. My predictions:
1. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
2. American Pie 2
3. Ghosts of Mars
4. Rush Hour 2
5. The Others
6. The Curse of the Jade Scorpion
7. The Princess Diaries
8. Summer Catch
9. Planet of the Apes
10. either Jurassic Park 3 or Bubble Boy(hopefully JP3)

I really hope Bubble Boy bombs bad because of how bad it looks. Ofcoarse I'm not that good with these predictions so I could WAY OFF. But, we shall see.

JAY AND SILENT BOB is opening wider than I thought. Playing at 2765 theaters, it should make much more than I originally predicted. It could be huge, that is, for a Kevin Smith film. AMERICAN PIE 2 is slowing down and teens need a final dose of laughter as they reluctantly prepare to go back to school. A $20 mil. opening is highly possible.

Here's the number of screens this weekends movies are getting released on.

JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK (2,765)
SUMMER CATCH (2,335)
GHOSTS OF MARS (2,048)
BUBBLE BOY (1,605)
CURSE OF THE JADE SCORPION (903)

I think JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK could open with 20 Million... GHOSTS OF MARS could open with 12 Million. SUMMER CATCH could open with 7 or 8 Million. BUBBLE BOY could open with 4 Million. And CURSE OF THE JADE SCORPION could open with 4 Million.
