Does everyone go for these? Currently the latest ones I've seen are
28 Days Later - MVC - card slide cover which fold out with booklet inside
Red Dragon - from MVC normal dvd 2 disc set inside a card case
Daredevil - from MVC exclusive card case holding the two dvds
Donnie Darko - from HMV with exclusive card case.
I so much prefer these, as they do make your dvd collection a bit more special. Anyone else spot these and do you go for these rather than general release versions?
If so, which is best one you've picked up?

I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but I got all the Vault Disney releases in a nice box set that (as far as I know, feel free to correct me) you can only get at Costco.
I like some of them (the Donnie Darko/HMV one is nice), others are pretty "meh" and some are worse than the normal cover (WHSmith's Road To Perdition cover comes to mind). I also liked the Homer/Scream cover that WHsmith had on the Simpsons THOH DVD, but considering the ridiculous prices that HMV, WHSmith, Virgin etc charge, I tend to stick with the default covers.
Us Yanks don't get luxuries like that, although they sound cool.

I tend to be with you. I think those big retail chains are such a con! They are so overpriced. I don't understand why they charge a few pounds more than most other shops.
Anyhow I do think that the xXx dvd set with soundtrack was pretty good from Virgin for both dvd and ost £20.
I also liked my Crouching Tiger one with the ost sample cd and exclusive cover.

Ya, for once, I have to actually wait to see a movie in theaters that you bums have on DVD (28 days later)! Dang ya!

But generally US boxes are nicer than Uk's. Like for instance Moulin Rouge came in a nice car fold out package on region 1, but on region 2 it was just a red standard dvd case (although MVC did have an exclusive similar packaging!)
What really annoys me are the ones with both french and english covered boxes like Beautiful Mind, Star Trek Nemesis and Jimmy Neutron!

Please explain, Mick!! Do you have a picture?! I may have to pay good money to have it... It's my favorite movie and, while the DVD in the US has an okay cover... I would like to see what you have over there!!

Had a look for a shot of the package, but I can't find one. It's basically just the normal R2 amaray (which I prefer, I have the R1) inside a cardboard slipcase. I can't remember exactly what's on it, but it has the countdown to the end of the world (days, hours, minutes) and some picture (Frank's face?) I can't remember at all) - Hopefully someone has it and can get a pic up. I'll need to have a look next time im in the shop.
To be honest, it's quite a nice addition, but it's not all that great that it's worth buying a new copy!

Yeh the Donnie Darko dvd set is basically the standard dvd set inside this card sleeve. The front of the card sleeve is Frank with all the cast on it, but they are sortof shiny, not just a matt picture.
Not many left now, as it is limited edition so get your skates on if you want it!

I thought this film was utter crap, but HMV are selling a exclusive limited edition one, you can also get one from www.hmv.co.uk.

Yeah, we do get the tins, but those cost extra, these sound like they're just freebies. I'm a sucker for packaging, so I'm jealous.
