There is something going around that is pissing me off lately, people who side with one movie, or one franchise, and refuse to raise an eyebrow to other films before they bash them in defense of their loved film.

I see people preaching about how sweet movie #A is, and when movie #B rolls along, they feel that it threatens movie #A somehow, so even before movie # B comes out, they start a campaigne about how bad that film is... I see it all the time at school and with my friends and all i have to say is that i can like The Matrix trilogy, The Star Wars Saga, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, T3, The Hulk and million more ALL In their own right!

Fuck these lists of *better* summer films and *better* sequals and *better* trilogies because, either way, im gonna get out the popcorn, sit my ass down with a hottie and enjoy each damn film that comes out!

Thank God! Someone in this world gets it! A lost of people I know are just like that..."Star Wars is so much better than Lord of the Rings." Personally, I love Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, The Terminator, The Matrix, etc. They are all good in their own regard. Just because they're all trilogies doesn't mean they're competing...

Well, I like one of the films in every series, so that kind of makes one super-trilogy, huh?

I'd like to add that it's also OK to not like Star Wars, The Matrix, and Lord of the Rings.

They are all equal. Some are just more equal than others.

Star Wars is first equal. Matrix is second equal. LOTR is shit.:p

Original Star Wars trilogy - SUCKS!

Star Wars Ep. I&II - SUCKS

The Matrix - KICK ASS

LOTR - OK

LOTR: Two Towers - OK

STAR TREK MOVIES - THE FUCKING ANTI-CHRIST OF FILMS

I haven't seen Matrix Reloaded, but I've heard mixed reviews, but I'm filled with nothing, but hate for Star Wars and Star Trek. The only thing I like about Star Wars is Yoda and I have fantasies about mowing down Mark Hamill, George Lucas, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford with an AK. I absolutely fucking hate Star Wars!

Man, it all sucks compared to the Jurrasic Park trilogy.

Well spoken, AP!

I love all five (soon six) STAR WARS flicks, I loved both (soon the three) LOTR flicks, I loved THE MATRIX (just barely liked RELOADED)...I don't see why it'd be impossible, they're basically the same fucking story after all. :)

I have to add HARRY POTTER as well. This film gets a lot of flack and bashing because it's also another fantasy franchise coming out at the same time as LOTR.

I generally like all the series mentioned already, myself.

I love The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Original Star Wars trilogy, Harry Potter, though I think The Hulk looks crappy.

...the only series that I'm not a fan of is the SW prequal trilogy. The OT isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread, but ESB was pretty good, and RotJ was fun enough. The Matrix ws good, Reloaded was pretty good. The LotR series, in my opinion, is brilliant. Indiana Jones, Back to the Future weren't included, strangly enough. Superhero films, in general, are also good.

Actually, I must say I don't like the STAR WARS films either. The original trilogy and the prequels are both campy (in a bad way), both feature horrible acting and writing, etc. They're just not my cup of tea. But, I happen to like the rest of the ones mentioned.

actually, it's usually done by people who haven't even read the Harry Potter books and dismiss them as children's books and feel they have to be too cool to enjoy the books and the movies....or it's the "in" thing to be a Potter basher...what's even funnier is a lot of the bashing of the books and movies being "kids stuff" is being done by guys who still read "books" with pictures in them and big words like "Poof" "Pow" and "Smack"

btw, the Friday the 13th series rules all of you! ;-))))

I choose not to acknowledge the existence of Jurassic Park II and III and all is well in the world.

Amen, Brother.
I, too, liked ALL the Star Wars movies (and I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy the final entry), I enjoyed the Matrix Reloaded and its predecessor, I can't wait for the LOTR: Two Towers on SE DVD and Return of the King, and I can't wait to see the Hulk.

RIGHT ON!!!!!!

Tho i'm not a HUGE fan of any of the trilogies, the closest would be LoTR...the series that's the worst probably would be Star Wars so far...

Star Wars:
Episode 1: 0/10 (YUP! You heard me!)
Episode 2: 6/10
Episode 4:8/10
Episode 5:7/10
Episode 6: 7/10

LOTR
Fellowship: 7/10
Two Towers: 9/10

Matrix
Matrix: 8/10
Reloaded: 6/10

I agree it's ok to (dis)like them all but I am not really caught up in hte whole STAR WARS vs LOTR vs MATRIX vs TERMINATOR etc debate...especially the STAR WARS vs LOTR debate that one pisses me off (ahem, look at the AICN boards and u'll know wut i mean)

Tho LotR is *clearly* superior to crappy Star Wars [bring it on! ;)]

Well spoken AP! I agree with everything you said. Every trilogy or saga that comes out I love. And the fact that we love these movies without comparing them says to me that we are the true movie buffs. We give everything a chance and we love it.

Cheers!!

Star Wars will always be my personal childhood fav, but I don't begrudge the other big-budget extravaganzas.

Actually, the only thing that really pisses me off are the ultra-militant fanboys (Star Wars included). For some reason they feel the need to justify their like for a film while doing their best to belittle fans of alternative genre. Star Wars versus Star Trek debates are the most ludicrous since 90% of the fans of one are also fans of the other. Talk about your sado-masochism. I'm not neccesarily referring to shmoes here at this website, but to militant fanboys in general.

And let's not kid ourselves. At the end of the day, we ALL know that the "Planet of the Apes" series is the best gul-durned Sci-Fi epic ever made (I'm not talking about that Tim Burton nonsense either).
:p
