ROMY AND MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION (1997)
Grade: 8/10 or B+ or **** out of *****

Romy and Michele's High School Reunion is one of my all time favourite comedys. It's an underrated flick that not many know about it. Most people think it's stupid and "inmature", but I find this movie to be very clever and funny. I was very surprised of how much I liked this, I even bought the DVD. The same thing happened to me with Legally Blonde (8/10 or B+). Which I also really enjoyed.

Writing is the key in this comedy. The script is very witty and clever. There are lots of great dialogue between Romy and Michele. There a lot of one liners that you can quote. Like ..."I hope your babys look like monkeys"... Or ..."Who lost their virginity first?".../..."Oh big wow! With you cousin Barry, I wouldn't brag about it"...And I just loved every time they said "Me too!". Like I said, the writing was essential in this comedy. You may think its stupid but I laughed my ass of anyway. Robin Schiff it's a very talented man, the script is just hilarious.

Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino were both great. They are just great comedic actresses. Lisa Kudrow is a very talented and beautiful woman. I fell in love with her since her first episode in F.R.I.E.N.D.S.. She's very very funny here. Mira Sorvino is great too, she's cuter though. But not funnier. Janeane Garofalo gives an amazing performance as Heather. She's so mean. I love it when she said "Fuck Off!". Alan Cumming was good too. He looks so weird here. Another weird scene is the dance rutine. What was that?

I really love this movie, I've seen it like 1000 times already and I never get tired of it. It has a lot of hold your stomach laugh jokes. And it's also a "feel good" movie". Im always with a smile on my face while watching this, it makes me happy. I see this every time Im in a good mood. Thumbs up for this baby.

Post your reviews here!

This is my all time favorite comedy. It's very funny and original, with a great 80's soundtrack. All of my family and friends know this movie by name, and will never forget it, because I've seen it SEVERAL times and have made them all watch it over and over again as well. My whole family really enjoyed it, and all of my friends did too.

A GREAT comedy that I'll never forget! Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow shine in what is their best performances in my opinion. I'll always remember them for this movie. My only little complaint is that the dream sequence gets boring and a tad sickening after multiple viewings. The rest is practically flawless though.

Grade: 10/10 or A+ (I know a lot of people won't think it deserves this high of a rating, but it's just my "personal" favorite. I have a lot of memories of watching this movie and it just grew to be my favorite comedy.)

By the way Sad Man, thanks for finally writing a review. I've been waiting FOREVER for someone to write a review for this movie for the Video Reviews Forum, but it surprisingly never happened until now. I would have done it myself, and considered it many times, but was afraid I couldn't do the movie justice.

No problem Mike!. I was really surprised that no one wrote a review for this movie before. I searched for this but there were no results. Well It's a dirty job but someone has to do it. ;)

Do you think I made the movie justice?

You did a very nice job Sad Man, I doubt I could have done better. Mine probably would have blew. It's much easier to like someone else's review better than your own, at least for me it is. I'm really critical of my work, and I'm hardly ever satisfied with it. I need to take some writing lessons, and I definitely need an editor.

"This is like the best we've ever looked!" / Don't you just love how we can say that to eachother and we know we're not being conceited? Oh I know, we're just being honest! ;)

"Sorry, not you, no, I was trying to scare your little boy!"

God, I just love this film! An online buddy of mine and I quote it a lot (since it has such awesome quotes), so it made me want to see it again since I haven't seen it in awhile. So, I grabbed my ol' VHS copy and popped it in on Saturday. This is just such a hilarious and clever film! A lot of people compare it to a female version of Dumb & Dumber, but it's certainly smarter and much better than that annoying and immature movie. I don't know if this movie could be more quotable. There's so many great lines.

Michele: Oh my God, you did it!
Romy: Yeah, I did.
Michele: What did you have to do?
Romy: I had to give everyone in the service department hand jobs.
Michele: Well, while you were doing that, I made us a tape of all the nostalgic songs from high school to get us in the mood.
Romy: Michele?
Michele: What?
Romy: Do you really think I would do that? For a car? Just get in.
Michele: O.K.

Romy: Hey, um, great suit. Is that an Armani?
Suit Salesman: Yes. Yes, it is.
Romy: I thought so. So, what do you do?
Suit Salesman: I'm a suit salesman.
Romy: Would you excuse me? I cut my foot before and my shoe is filling up with blood.

Michele: You look so good with blond hair and black roots its like not even funny.

Michele: Remember the prom? You got so thin by then.
Romy: Oh, I know. I was so lucky getting mono. That was like the best diet ever.

Michele: You know, even though we've watched Pretty Woman like thirty-six times, I never get tired of making fun of it.

Michele: You know, even though I had to wear that stupid back brace and you were kind of fat, we were still totally cutting edge.

Romy: What the hell is your problem, Christy. Why the hell are you always such a nasty bitch? I mean, okay, so me and Michele invented some dumb lie, it was only because we wanted you to treat us like human beings. But you know what? We don't care if you like us, 'cause we don't like you. You're a bad person with an ugly heart, and we don't give a flying fuck what you think.

(I just get really happy when she tells her off :D)

Romy: Oh my God! Remember what a big controversy it was for us to have our picture taken together?
Michele: Yeah, because Danny Weller like, lodged that complaint. Because alphabetically he was supposed to be between us.
Romy: So we said: "OK Danny. If you want to be between us, come to Michele's house on Friday night and we'll be waiting."
Michele: And then he showed up, and we were like: "Danny, it was a joke!"
Romy: And then we turned the sprinklers on him!
[both laugh hysterically]
Michele: Oh my God!
[abruptly stops laughing]

Michele: Hey Romy, remember Mrs. Divitz's class, there was like always a word problem. Like, there's a guy in a rowboat going X miles, and the current is going like, you know, some other miles, and how long does it take him to get to town? It's like, 'Who cares? Who wants to go to town with a guy who drives a rowboat?

[Romy whips Michele in the face with her hair]
Michele: Ow! That hurt! But it looked really good!

Romy: Have a "Romy and Michele" day!

Michele: For me, it's like I've just given birth to my own baby girl, except she's like a big giant girl who smokes and says "shit" a lot. You know?

What a great movie! It's become a major cult film. :) I know I could never date someone that didn't like this movie (or Kissing Jessica Stein, Anna Faris, May, etc... ;))

A very enjoyable comedy, with Mira and Lisa making a nice team. I dug their relationship and think it was nicely written and acted, they pulled off the chemistry. My particular favourite part was when Romy and Michelle got the car and were going on and it kept stopping..."SHIT!" dadadada "SHIT!" dadadada "SHIT!" :D

That said, didn't find the movie very memorable and I don't think it holds up as well on second viewing...but I 'll need to give it a third to finalise my grade.

Grade: 7/10

I loved this movie! It was so clever and funny and both of the actresses are a riot. The dialogue is gonna become classic someday, for the script is very funny and well-written. Here are some other lines I remembered from the top of my head:

Michele: Didn't he die?

Michele:(laughs) Oh, I just get so happy when they finally let her shop!

Romy: I invented Post-Its!

9.5/10 (A+)

I also really like:

Romy: God that was so rude!
Michele: Oh, I know, and what a bitch taking your hamburger! :D

I saw this movie in March, and instantly fell in lurve with it. It is possibly my biggest guilty pleasure. It's so '80s! I love that! It's so silly and cute, too. Just a great, fun movie!
